Our 25 weekers didn't sit up until after they crawled, which was not for awhile! I wouldn't be too concerned but mention it to your doctor/etc next time you see them.

My son started sitting up when he was almost 6 months adjusted age so it was technically when he was 8 months old. One of the nurses at our health department kept trying to get me to go see a physical therapist but I refused because I knew he would do it on HIS own time.

I've had 4 preemies and my older two sat up at 7 months & 8-1/2 months - they crawled at 9-1/2 months & 10-1/2 months and walked at 15 months. They are now 21 months and on target for all of their developmental milestones. You have to remember to adjust their age by the # of weeks early the baby is. My younger two are 4 months old (age adjusted 3 months) and one just rolled over, but the other one isn't even close.

My daughter was a 29 wker, and she starting sitting up on her own at the age of 9m. I swear by the bumbo set... it was the best thing I have ever bought. with in one month of haveing it she was sitting up on her own... it was great. She will not crawl, but is starting to learn to hang on to hands and pull up... He will sit when he is ready... like most kids, they don't do what is expected of them... Best of luck.

Joseph was a 27 weeker, and he sat at 11 and a half months actual. He was very good at it despite refusing to ever practice sitting!!! He started sitting on the Wednesday and by the Friday was stable enough to sit in the bath.

A lot of term babies are not sitting at 6 months, don't stress!

where i come from we have a saying, at 5 months sit him down (practice) and if its a girl spoil her till 6....
my twins are almost 6 moths and one sits for a few seconds, or if i put a pillow behind him, while my other twin flops right over as soon as i place him. he should be sitting alone soon but help him out by putting a pillow behind him for support, or ur hand, also try placing him on his stomache every now and then they say it helps him get his back bone strong to help him sit later on..
