Would like to finds out from all the Preemie moms at what week your lo was born & why?

My son was born at 31 weeks and Im not sure why. I can only assume it was because i was unpacking the night before. However my mother inlaw told me she had both her children early because she was to small for the babies to grow any more, and that is a posability for me as well. the thing that was weird about my preme was that i didnt go into labor on my own, his water broke and then i had to be on patosin the whole time because i wouldnt start contracting on my own.

My son was born at 30w, weighed 2lbs, 7oz and spent 45 days in NICU. I developed pre-eclampsia. Was in hospital on complete for 9 days before they decided to do C-section. Meds weren't working and they couldn't increase dosage anymore. My son is now 12yo, doing great, rarely sick.

My little girl was born at 34 weeks she was 4lbs 11oz and 18inch long, She stayed in the NICU for 2 1/2 weeks. And the reason for her being early is because I had HELLP sydrome and had a bad infection. She is a very happy 8 month old!

My son was 12 weeks early, at 1 lb 5 oz with IUGR due to my Crohn's Disease.

He measured normal at 20 week ultrasound, and at 28 weeks I had PROM out of the blue at 3 am. I didn't know I was in a disease flare, but my placenta had infarcts that prevented him from growing in the last few weeks, and I was under quite a lot of stress in the month or so prior to preterm labor.

He's now 8 months old (actual), and doing very very well.

my daughter was born at 33 wks weighting 3 lbs and 3 oz becasue my water broke at 29 wks they originall was trying to keep me in the hospital til 34 wks but my placenta ruptured at 33 then i had my beautiful baby girl tho i did bleed all during the time i was in the hospital they had to keep monitoring her to make sure she was ok

I had a lot of stress whilst I was pregnant. My daughter was born 9 weeks premmie, weighed 3 pounds & 11 ounces, stayed in hospital 4 weeks, she had many challenges. She was not able to walk un-assisted, she needed support to sit up, drooled constantly, developmentally delayed, frequent body tremors, some seizure like episodes, kind of in a daze all the time, clenched left hand, choking on her food, speach problems, left side weakness etc. She was elevated on her toes when holding her to walk, she was splinted for a leg brace & they wanted to give her botox, but after researching botox and discovering how it’s made and there were no long term studies I decided against it. Her life was restricted & so was mine ...and it looked this way for the rest of her life ... & mine. I felt hopeless.

We were attending all sorts of treatments and therapies which cost a lot. A friend told me about some special wellness supplements from a particular company, she started taking them in her yogurt, after one week she was up walking un-assisted, it made an immense difference to her brain function, memory, balance, mood & cognition in a short space of time. She began to thrive. I was elated!

I am so grateful to the person that told me about this incredible technology. She now has a life now ….. and so do I. My son was born at 37wks gestation due to my severe preeclampsia, but nicu dated him at 34wks due to my placental infarction and preeclampsia. He weighed 3 lbs 14oz at birth and 17"long. He is 10mon now and 26" long; 19 lbs :D

My 3rd son was born at 35 weeks to the day. I am not sure why - my water broke in the middle of the night with no explanation. I had a pitocin labor and he was born at 5lbs 13 ozs. He spent 2 weeks in the special care nursery. We did have to stop my labor at one point because his heart rate kept dropping - turns out his cord was in a knot. They did fluid infusion so I could still deliver vaginally, which worked great. I still wonder if the knot in the cord could have caused harm had I continued the pregnancy. In the end we are likely blessed to have had him come early. He is now 6 months old and doing great! He is maybe a little delayed but on track for his adjusted age.

our little tiffany lynn was born at 32 weeks, she spent 2 weeks in the nicu, she was in the first stage for 2 days then skipped right threw to the last stage withi a day after that and stayed there till the end of her stay, she weiged 4lbs 4 oz and was 16 in long, they had trouble getting the iv into her tiny little hands so they put it into her belly button, she couldnt keep her body temp up until the day before she came home, i remember she only ate like 50ml fpr the first month, she slowly worked her way up.We went into labor due to water breaking and had gestational diabieties and low amniotic fluid from the start. Tiffany is noe a rip roaring two year old, she is a little on the small side and isnt pronouncing things very well, but i am thankful for the way it has turned out. she was our first baby, we had a song made up for her and everything, te name of it was tiffany lynn. You might heaar it on the radio one day. the guy that made the song for us is planning on donating it to all the nicu in NY.

my 4th son isn't so primie like your son, but he also has to born early bc my health was at risk. I have IH (INTERCRANEAL HYPERTENTION OR PSUDERTUMOR CERBRI) last year I have a shunt place in my brian, the pragnacy was hard, but the fact that he has to born a month early was scary. at some point my shunt stop working or something, and the dr want him to born asap at 35 weeks, I convence them to let my baby stay one more week, and he born by c-section at 36 weeks, I couldn't saw him born they put me at sleep, but he was perfectly healthy 6lb 6oz 19 in. I continue to strugle with vision lose and more. but he is doing fine now at 6 weeks old he is 11 lb. God bless you, your baby and your family. you mast be a strong woman, best wishes

I went into preterm labor at week 31. I was leaking a little bit of amniotic fluid and my cervix had started shortening. I was put on bedrest and had my daughter at week 32. She was 4 lbs 11 oz and had to stay in the NICU for 4 weeks. The OB does not know why I went into preterm labor, I had no risk factors and an uneventful pregnancy. My daughter is now almost 3 month old and is doing great.

My little angel, Gabriel was born on my 37th week. I was just diagnosed with severe preeclampsia and sent induced next morning.Gabe arrived that night. He's now 9months old, healthy and very curious. :)

My dude was born at 27 weeks for no discernible medical reason (although I have a suspicion that it was incompetent cervix; I had a hard time keeping my second baby in too.) We spent 74 days in the NICU. He's a perfectly normal (if a little hyper) 3-year-old, who's hit all his milestones right on time.

My son was 2mo early because i had pre-eclampsia and my kidneys were shutting down and I was VERY sick. I was in the hospital for a week over Christmas before they indiced me. I went 10hours with BAD labor and no meds before I took an Epi but it made me sick and I couldnt stop throwing up so I had a c-section. he was born 12/27/09 at 11:21pm and was 3pounds 12oz. He is now totally healthy and perfect in every way!

My first daughter was born at 32 weeks (1,6kg and 2 months in hospital) and my second daughter at 35 weeks (2,1kg and two weeks in hospital). I had high blood pressure in both pregnancies from 16 weeks but it was well controlled with meds and rest. My gyny/ob has told me that I have an irritable uterus as I had alot of contractions during my pregnancies and as a consequence my cervix shortened and opened before term. Thankfully during my second pregnancy my doctor noticed the cervical changes and I was on hospital bedrest which meant my second daughter was born three later which made a huge difference.
Both girls are doing great now.

My son was born at 29 weeks and he is now 6. We are unsure why he was so early we have a little girl too and she waa full term. I can say my son is in kindergarden now and you would never know he was early he is 58lbs and 46 inches tall! BIG, and as far as delays in the beginning we were convinced he would always be behind and now he is not the smartest or the fastest but he is the sweetest by a mile and he gets to be a miricle! He spent 54 days in the NICU and this was the longest days of our lives! I am am not sure how my husband and I survived but we did and Cody is great! I wish so bad I could let every going through this that there is light at the end of the tunnel and one day you will be watching your childs and forget all about the horror of the NICU it will no longer be all you think about, it will no longer be the center of your world. Things get better!!!!

My son was born at 31 weeks due to preeclampsia!! I fell at work and injured my elbow so I had to go to ER to get it looked at and when I got there and they checked me my blood pressure was high so the Dr told me I needed to go see my OB as soon as possible! I was able to get in to my OB the next day and my blood pressure was still elevated so I was told I had to quit my job and be on complete bedrest! I was on bedrest at home for 2 weeks, NST weekly! I was given a steroid to help strengthen his lungs because Dr said that I wasn't gonna be able to go full term!! After 2 weeks at home my blood pressure was so high the Dr told me he was admitting me and I would remain in hospital until my son!!! I was in the hospital for 3 weeks and On August 4, 2007 my blood pressure was 190/120 so they told me they would have to start the induction 3 days later on August, 7, 2007 my little miracle was born!!! He is now 3 yrs old and very rarely ever sick but does have developmental delays!!!

My son was 35 weeks and 6 days bc I had preeclampsia. He was 6 lbs 15 oz & 19 3/4 long. He was a lb bigger and a inch longer than normal. He stayed in the hospital for 2 weeks. The doctor told me that if we would have waited in any longer to have him that the blood clots in the placenta would have clotted so much, neither of us would have been able to clot anymore and would have just kept bleeding out. Now he is 16 months, he weighs 27 lbs and hes 32 1/2 inches long. At first he was a little slow on reaching milestones but he progressed fast after the first 6 months and was walking before most of the kids before him. He is hardly ever sick and he i sa very spoiled first grandchild.

I had my b/g twins at 33.6 weeks. My water broke at 5:45 in the morning ( on the morning of my baby shower) and by the time I got to the hospital and checked in ( hospital was only five mintues away) I was already 100% effaced and 5cm dialated. My daughter was ready to make her way out, the problem was my son was a side ways breach. Rather than hope he turned I ended up having an emergency c-section which to this day I believe saved his life. I had my daughter by 7:51 that morning, and my son by 7:53 am.



My daughter was born at 3 pounds 12 ounces. She only had to be on oxygen for an hour, and had jaundice and weight gain issues. She came home twelve days after she was born at a discharge weight of four pounds 1 ounce. While in the hospital we also had a scare of a brain bleed. After they did the second scan on her though if there was anything there it had disappeared.



My son was born at 4 pounds 10 ounces. He had underdeveloped lungs. He was given the steriod shot to help develop his lungs, and was on a resperator for four hours. They had to check his blood oxygen levels so frequently that they ran a line into his belly button so they didn't have to keep pricking his heel. He also had jaundice and trouble maintaining his body temperature. That being said once he got off the resperator he was on oxygen for six days, before he was finally able to come off and stay off. During those times he had to go back on a few times because his feedings would tire him out. He came home at a discharge weight of four pounds 8 ounces eight days after they were born.



Now they will be three this June and you can't tell they were preemie. My son is 37 inches long ( 18 inches at birth) and weighs almost 32 pounds. My daughter is 36 and a half inches ( 17 inches at birth) and weighs almost 31 pounds.



July 2010, I had our youngest and was able to make it to 38 weeks 6 days weighing six pounds 1 ounce. No one is quite sure why I had the twins early, but the only response is because they were twins.

My little girl was born at 24 weeks she only weighed 1 lb. 9.3 oz. At first they thought I had an incompetent cervix but when I was pregnant with my second baby turns out they were not sure if it was incompetent cervix or preterm labor. So with my second baby I had a cervical cerclage and I took 17p injections starting my 13th week of pregnancy. I had my second baby at 37 weeks.
My little girl has an eye disease called ROP. She has had 6 eye surgeries. She has came along way, she is still very far behind. She is in the first grade this year and she is improving everyday. She is my little miracle and I love her more than anything in this world.

My daughter was born at 25 weeks weighing 1lb 15oz as a result of a car accident. We were hit by a semi on the interstate. My placenta abrubted and after an hour of being cut out of the car we were airlifted to the hospital. She has grade 3 IVH, no suck swallow gag reflex and chromosome deletions. She is almost 10 weeks old and now weighs 3.3 pounds. We will hopefully get her home in Feb her due date month. I also broke my c7 vertebrae, 3 ribs, pelvis and sacrum. This is been a tough road but we are so happy to have our little miracle baby here with us.

My baby was born at 32 weeks. This was because I was diagnosed at 20 weeks with Grade 4 Placenta Previa - basically this means the Placenta had grown over the birth canal making natural birth impossible. The main issue this can cause is bleeding from the Placenta as the baby can kick and punch at it easily. As soon as I was diagnosed I was not allowed to leave the hospital and was basically told I could not go home until the baby was born because if you have what they call a "catastrophic bleed" from the Placenta, you can bleed to death very quickly. They wanted to try and get me to 36 weeks minimum and were aiming for 37 if I didnt have any problems in the meantime and they booked my section with this in mind. Anyway, I had a few little bleeds, but when he was 32 weeks gestation I unfortunately did have the catastrophic bleed - it was scary as hell. Basically, it was like a river of blood pouring out of me. They put me under and performed the section - I can't give them enough thanks, I was knocked out and in theatre within 10 minutes of the bleed starting. Harry was born weighing 3lbs and spent just over a month in special care. I couldnt see much of him at first as I was very ill myself from blood loss, luckily I had an older daughter who was then 16 who stayed with him all the time my husband couldnt be there. He is now a healthy happy 3 year old.

My daughter was born at 36 weeks due to gastroschesis. It's where the abdominal wall didn't close all the way and her intestines were on the outside. She was also breech, too stubborn to turn, so I had to have a c-section. She was born weighing 5.1lbs and 16 1/2in long. Her condition wasn't bad enough to need surgery, they just pushed everything back in and layed her umbilical cord over it and let it heal like a wound. After 23 days in the NICU she finally got to come home! She weighed only 5.5lbs when she left, she had alot of problems gaining weight and had gotten down to 4.10lbs. She came home 2 days before her original due date. Now she is a little over a month old and we have only had her home for almost 3 weeks. She is our spoiled little girl and her 2 brothers absolutely love her!

My second son was just born at 33 weeks, he was 4lbs 5 oz. He just got out of nicu the other day, after 12 days now he's just in another room off oxygen, but is still being fed through a tube. The hospital is a 2 hour drive from home and we have a 16 month old at home that we are trying to keep life somewhat normal for. We are just finding it soo difficult to be away, we go in every 2 days but we can only hold him for soo long before we have to put him back because of his rapid breathing. Just wondering how everyone dealt with bonding with their preemies.

Hi my wee girl is also 10 months and was born at 30 weeks weighing 1.5kg, and I have a wee boy in SCBU at the moment who was born at 30 weeks also (now 33 weeksgest). I have a double uterus (uterus didelphis) which means there isnt enough stretch/ room for my babies to get to full term. My wee girl came naturally after teh placenta started pulling away from the uterine wall and my wee boy was born by emergency c-section as was footling breech and the placenta also had come away they discovered when they pulled him out. My wee girl is very happy and healthy and my wee man is doing amazingly well and can see no probs in the future for him! arent we lucky to have such precious angels in our lives!

My little boy was born at 35 weeks and he weighed 4lbs 14oz. He stayed in NICU for only 1 night but was in there for 5 days after because he had bad jaundice, it had gotten up to 13.7. It was so hard leaving him in there when I was discharged after two days. I wish that on no one. He's now a little over 10lbs and he eats like a pig lol

My babygirl was born via emergency c section at 31 weeks due to distress(HR in 180's and would not come down). We had been waiting for her since i went into the hospital at 23 weeks for unmeasurable shortened cervix, then after being there a week, my water broke. But she held out another 7 weeks.
She was in the nicu for just over 8 weeks due to eating issues and apnea issues. She is now 3 1/2 months and is perfect! She started rolling over, been sleeping throught the night since she came home and is generally just a happy baby...i can't ask for more!

My little girl Katie was born at 34 weeks at a little over 5 lbs. I had HELLP syndrome and my liver started to shut down so I was admitted and induced on a Sat and Katie was born on Monday 9:04 am. We were really lucky that she was in NICU for only 24 hours and the only problem that she had was jaundice. She was kept for a little over week and then we were released. She is a very happy little girl-full of smiles all the time. She is now 4 months and she is a little behind on holding her head but we're working on it. :)

My daughter was born at 24 weeks, I had a show at 18weeks and a huge bleed at 23weeks then my waters broke, not sure why. I was extremely careful as I had lost the previous 3 pregnancies, one of them I had a show also at 18weeks. My first pregnancy was fine though, a healthy girl at 39 weeks! 5 pregnancies down, 2 healthy girls and I am very lucky.

My l/g was born at 26 weeks. She has had a lot of hardships. She had 7 surgery in the first 11 months of her life. Her little intestines did not want to work for her. She is a very small butvery happy 33 month old now that only has a speech delay that is not bad at all. She spent about 170 days in the hospital and when she came home she had a feeding tube that I believed led to her getting sick and loseing weight for the first month she was home. We pulled it out and she started to gain and grow. She is only 24 lbs but I will take it. I hope that everything is going well for you and your l/g.

My son was born at 26 weeks on the day. I had a placental abruption and they got him out within 10 minutes of me going in for a c-section. My whole pregnancy was a nightmare and a very high risk one. My baby weighed in at 2 pounds (he was the smallest one in the NICU) and he stayed there for 2 1/2 months. The longest 2 1/2 months I ever had to endure. My son is now 16 months and he is struggling with about 10 medical problems. The biggest thing is that he can't eat anything "normal" so he is on a prescription formula and a prescription semi-solid food (he is allergic to EVERYTHING). And now he hasn't gained weight for the last four months. I know that despite everything my son is facing now, he is my miracle baby. My doctors told me that I would lose him early in my pregnancy, but I didn't. I almost died twice to bring him into this world, but he is worth it

My son was born at 34+6 gestation due to a placental abruption, which means that my placenta moved away from the wall of my womb and he was drowning inside essentially. I did not go into labour, which is something I struggle with every day and cannot seem to let go. People just do not understand
He was born by crash emergency c-section. It was terrifying! I went into surgery at 03.50 and he was born at 04.04. I am so grateful every day that he is here!!!
He is now almost 8 months and I cannot imagine a ilfe if he had not made it through that night, which was a very possible outcome.

My son was born at 35 weeks and 6 days. He was born early due to the fact I had preeclampsia. I went into the doctor's office August 17 and my blood pressure was 130/100, I was brought to the hospital and the doctor said we was having a c-section tomorrow. My doctor predicted my son to be 7 lbs bc his ultrasounds always showed he was a big baby. At 10:52 am My little boy was born weighing 6 lbs 15 oz and he was 19 3/4 long. He was sent to another hospital bc the hospital I delivered at did not have a NICU. I was discharged the next day to go see my son. My doctor told me I had blood clots in the capillarys of the placenta so bad that if I would have went any longer the placenta would have clotted so much I wouldn't have been able to clot anymore and my son and I wouldn't have made it. But anyways, He was in the nicu for 2 weeks. Even though he was preemie, most people wouldn't believe he was. He was a big baby to start off with and is reaching every mile stone. Now he is 16 months old weight 27 lbs and 32 1/2 inches.

My boy was born at 34.5wks, 5lb9oz or 2522grams with no warning, went into labour at work & he was born 1.5hrs after getting to hospital. He has chronic lung disease and came home on oxygen, which he came off at 15months! OB got no idea why he came early, I'd had bad bronchitis a couple of weeks before he came & that MAY have contributed but they really don't knwo for sure. My boy has bad reflux & some food allergies we're still working on but he's happy and reaching all milestones. His older brother came 3 weeks early, so maybe it's me. I have a dodgy uterus from endometriosis and adenomyosis. A very scary experience but he's doing so well now thankgoodness!

My daughter was born @30wks. she was 2lbs 5oz she was 2wks iugr (behind in growth). Because I had preclampsia. I had no idea until I went for my 6 month check up and they sent me straight to hospital for testing and bed rest, I only lasted 1 wk in hospial before they decided to c section me. She spent 7weeks in the NICU. she is now 8 months (5 1/2months corrected). She is doing great she's sitting up and is now trying to learn the rolling. I was a hard emotional time while she was in nicu but I look back now and would do it all over again for her, she's worth it. and I def plan on more children, hoping for no preemies but if they are I know we will get through it again.

My son was born at 32 weeks and 5 days old. I was going in and out of labor starting at 21 weeks. Then at 28 weeks found out I had a partial placenta abruption and placed on hospital bed rest.



My son was feet down and with the placenta they told me I had to have a c-section for my life and my sons life. On SEPT 2, 2004 my son came so quickly that no one had time to react. My DR did not make it to the hospital on time. So my son was born breech. He was stuck in me for more than 10 minutes and was actually considered stil-born and was immediately rushed off to the NICU. I was not stable enough to see him until aver 1:30 pm. He was born at 8:09 am and weighed 4lbs and 13 ozs. Which was big for a premie his age.



They told us that he should be home by November 1. (That would have been about 4 days past his due date.) Aaron was only kept in there for 28 days. And it was so emotional. My Husbands brother had a son after us and he could go home on time. So it was hard for us to show the joy, especially between NICU visits.



He was always on time with his due date milestones. or just shortly after. And the Doctors told us he would cath-up by the time he was 2. And he did. He is 6 now and doing well. We decided to hold him back and start Kindergarten this year because he only made the cut off because he was a premie and he was not ready! You ever need anything let me know! Its hard to relate if you never had a premie!

I was induced at 35 weeks due to severe eclampsia and IUGR with my 6 year old. The eclampsia was so bad my placenta was shutting down and he had stopped growing around 30 weeks based on ultrasounds and his birth weight and we didn't know. I was induced at 33 weeks due to eclampsia with my 1 yr old daughter. Needless to say I am done having kids as I also had a full termer that I had eclampsia with as well.

My twins were born at 33.5 weeks, I ended up getting preeclampsia and was put in the hospital for a week before my blood pressure got so high that it was to dangerous for me carry my girls any longer. The oldest twin was 4 lbs 4 oz, and the second was 2 lbs 13 oz they were in the NICU for 30 days they are doing great now 2 1/2 years old and growing like a weed

My daughter was born at 35wks weighing 5lbs 3.2oz. I had severe chorioamnionitis. It was the worst case my midwife had ever seen. Her cord detached from the placenta just minutes after she was born. My placenta was delivered in chunks, was brown, and looked like rotten ground up hamburger meat. She was my 3rd child. My son, my fourth, was born at 36wks due to PROM. I still have no idea why he came early, but I'm just glad they are both healthy.

My daughter was born at 35 1/2 weeks and was almost born at 33 weeks. I was in preterm labor and didnt know but had a little bleeding and passed a clot looking thing. The week before I had major bleeding after sex. My labor was stopped and I was told I had an aging placenta. An aging placenta is when the placenta ages faster than the baby and if it ages too far, it can stop providing nutrients to the baby. It is common in smokers, drug abusers or older moms. I was able to hold out for a couple more weeks and then my daughter was born at 35 weeks, 5lbs 6oz and 17 3/4in long. She had a chubby face but was super skinny and still is at 17 months. lol We love her cheeks =] She was in the NICU for 17 days until she could bottle feed for all feedings and not use the nasal tube to feed.

My little girl was 4 weeks early. We still don't know why, the only thing that we found was that she had a very high white blood cell count. I was fine and had no indication of early labor. I woke up a 2:30am when my water broke, and she was borne at 5:28am. She is now a happy and healthy 3mo old.
