My son Mathew was born at 24 weeks and is still in the NICU. He is 6 months old and has BPD and now Pulmonary Hypertention. He was on just O2 at 4 months and was a week away from coming home and then he had to be put back on ventilator, he has been on it now for 2 months. I was just wondering if any one could tell me if there is something else the doctors can do to get him off the vent.

The severest form of Chronic Lung Disease is broncho pulumonary displaisure, (spelling may not be right lol)
My son Adam was 8 yrs old yesterday, and is still on home oxygen, as far as i am aware, he is the oldest prem baby to still be requiring home oxygen for chronic lung disease, he was a BPD baby, and was born at 25wks,

Amanda-
My son has chronic lung disease (or BPD). Here are some links to information: http://www.meriter.com/living/preemie/pr... and http://children.webmd.com/tc/chronic-lun...
My son spent 6 mos on O2, he was born at 28 weeks. He is 13 mos actual age and doing well. We are getting synagis and keeping my son out of public places for RSV season.
