I want to set up a scheduale for my baby girl, but her sleeping pattern is all over the place. She's 4 months old but Her adjusted age is 3 months and 4days. Is it normal for her to still not have a sleep pattern? Also, what milestones should she have reached already?

Both of my daughters were born 36 weeks and 2 days to the day. As far as a sleeping pattern is concerned, my daughters were very difficult initially having reflux and simply having to deal with a mom (me) who second guessed everything she did (especially with my first). Fortunately, by 3 months old, both of my daughters were sleeping through the night and well into the morning... My husband and I would constantly put our fingers under their nostrils just to make sure they were still breathing... I have friends though, with young ones that don't sleep well through the night. Some friends of mine have children in their 2's, 3's, 4's and older that still wake every night, rarely allowing anyone in the house to have a full night of sleep. I think it really depends on the child but don't get your hopes up! At 4 months, I think that is more than normal! A GREAT book I read that helped me thoroughly as a new mother was "Secrets Of The Baby Whisperer." I am an avid reader and pre-baby as well as post-baby, I think I read almost every baby book worth reading based on what other parents said. "Secrets Of The Baby Whisperer" for some reason resonated with me and made every situation that I would normally be anxious over manageable. I honestly would not worry too much though! These kiddos come out of us knowing who they are and what they want... structure is great but babies don't always let us structure them. Keep trying... eventually, she may just comply. :)

My son was born at 32 weeks..he is 6 now. At this age she should start to soon develop a pattern. Also keep in mind all children set their on pace, and even more so for premmie babies. If she hasnt started rolling over yet she will be doing that really soon! As for any and everything else...give it time it will come....dont let the other parents with "term" babies tell you what your child should be doing at this point...she is special in her own way and will do it when she is ready!

Hang in there!

Oh my daughter was born at 36 weeks! She actually slept pretty well. I noticed that I had to Swaddle her longer than 40 week babies! She loved the swaddle which helped her sleep longer and she was on a set sleep routine by 4 months! (and since she was tiny, the swaddle blanket was never too small! lol). I dont know if that helps, but I have been told that premies should be swaddled longer!

So my baby girl I think has a little pattern :). She goes to bed at 11pm or 12am and doesn't wake up until 1 pm, except to eat a little bit around 10 or 11 am... Thank u ladies for the advise!
