this question is not about me I am only 22 weeks...my friend is however 37 weeks and she has been having really bad contractions since she was 29 weeks...we have been in the hospital multiple times...the hospital is rude and thinks she is just wanting him out. she is in great pain. They gave her morphine a couple of weeks ago and the two bags of it didn't vene phase her. Now here she is 37 weeks and she is still having those contractions...her doctor isn't a obgyn he is just an md. What do we do if even her doctor will not help her out?

drink lots of water and change your type of activity...if your sitting walk, if your walking sit and limit sex if possible

another doctor, or hospital maybe. i had that problem with my daughter. Too many contractions, painful ones. It turned out that the machine wasnt picking up my contractions cause it was broken, and my husband took me to another hospital instead. they wouldnt even check me! by the time we got to the other hospital, i was almost dialated to a ten! Your friend should look into another doctor, maybe an obgyn who will listen to her, instead of pushing her away since that can be very dangerous for the baby. I wish you both the very best of luck!

first thing tell your friend not to stress out. stress can aid in inducing labour. I agree with most with go to another dr or hospital if possible.

32 weeks into my first pregnancy I experienced some pain and had a show of blood, I was sent home with panadol for the pain and medication for a suspected infection.

I had antenatal the next day and the doctor also thought I was experiencing braxtons as I was not dilated and had an infection however he did request to see me at the end of the week to ensure the braxtons were not going to put me into labour. The pain continued to increase throughout the day.

Later that night I thought I was severely constipated and figured this was the reason behind the pain until I started screaming in pain. I was taken to the hospital for pain relief and was told I was dilated and in labour. The doctor was called in (country hospital) and began with steps to stop my labour and prepare me for transport to another hospital.

I was lucky that I went to the hospital otherwise I would have lost my daughter.

For yourself and your friend if there is pain go to the hospital to be checked out just in case especially for your first when you don't know what is going on.

My last pregnancy (4th) was the only one where my waters broke prior to labour.

I agree, tell her to go to the ER of another hospital where different docs and OBs will check her out. Some women experience painful braxton hicks contractions. I know I did with my son, I thought I was definatley in labor, at one point they were pretty painful. But I wasn't and with him made it until the end of my 36th week.

The good news is, after she completes 37 weeks she is considered full term, assuming her date is accurate. She really should have been seeing an actual OB, in my opinion, but you can't change that. If she is unhappy with her doctor or the hospital then she should go to a different one. I do agree with the other's though - they wouldn't send her home if she was in actual labor, and if she was, she would have had the baby by now considering she has been dealing with this for a while. Everyone feels pain differently. In the meantime, since she is so far along, she should be checked regularly because she really could go into labor at anytime. That being said, anyone experiencing anything that may not feel right, no matter how far into the pregnancy you are, should get checked. Anything can happen at any time and without warning. My water broke at 22 weeks out of no where and I wasn't what one would consider to be high risk.

Yeah I agree that they wouldn't send her home if they were actual contractions. And maybe she should see an ob. But she does only have a couple more weeks to go.

Are you sure they aren't Braxton Hicks? They wouldn't send her home if she was actually in labor and possibly about to have a baby. It's only a few more weeks. I say wait. Induction sucks. Trust me. I had to do it and didn't have a choice and if given a choice, will never do it again.
