Discipline issues become a lot more challenging, the older our kids get. We can see how their behavior is harming them, but it also has a detrimental effect on everyone else in the family. Have you considered a counseling session with a professional? They might be able to help your daughter, first, figure out why lying has become habitual, and then, second, understand how it's hurting her. When she enters the workplace and life as an adult, lying could have some extreme consequences.

You might give Focus on the Family a call. I know they offer a free consultation with a licensed counselor. This is the number to call, 855-382-5433, and they will call you back. In my own life, talking things over with a counselor was a huge help -- just having someone to talk with who is really listening instead of being distracted by their own problems and thoughts!

And what have her consequences been other than being taken to the police station that one time?
