We found out Aug 10th my 16 yr old son U is going to be a daddy, his girlfriend will be 15 in Sept. Although his gf D will be a good mom, the home environment is not good. D's dad L was just told about her being pregnant today. He wanted to get together & talk about things so we went over. He has custody of D but her mom C is going for an emergency hearing to try to get custody. One of the first things he said is that if C does try to get custody of D he will report U for rape otherwise won't, so he's taking that out on something that has nothing to do with anything. Here in Indiana we have the Romeo & Juliet Law so he doesn't have a chance. I told him the law is 14 & he said no 16 so I said whatever!! L is already wanting money for support, yea right like that's going to happen!! D hasn't been to the dr yet so we have no idea how far along she even is yet L said she conceived at OUR home & I said well he's been here too & over at the school park down the road from them....D's mom & dad are all on some form of welfare, even the kids (4 or 5 of them) are getting social security. C wants actual custody of the baby so she can get more for herself from the state. I met the mom Friday & did NOT like the smell coming off her, sorry but it's true. She smelled like furniture that animals use the toilet on, I'm sure some of you know the smell I'm talking about?! Going to L's home today, wow, no better!! They live in a run down trailer (floor is literally falling through) with 6 people, cluttered & dirty & that same animal smell like they go in the house & it not being cleaned up....surprise no animals in the house but a chinchilla in a cage that looked clean. My son will be supporting this child no matter what. BUT My son is very good with kids & babies & HE wants custody. After today seeing how both the mom & dad live neither place is fit or healthy for an animal let alone a baby. After our initial talk with L we went to leave & started talking when we got outside. He went on & on about he & his wife are having marital problems, how she wanted him out a yr ago but he has no job so can't find housing but makes too much from social security he can't apply for state help.... My son is a junior in high school & plans to finish & some way some how is still planning on going to college. We really hate to do this to D but we're thinking about the baby too. What's his chance of gaining custody?
