Well, as a grandma now, and mother of 3, we have gone through this before! Perhaps it would be good to set some guidelines and boundaries in several areas so they know you mean business and that you have concerns. When you said below that you all "let them do whatever they want to" it raised a flag for me. We have learned that the kids do better with boundaries, it actually makes them feel safer, and like you really care what they do with their choices and where that leads them in life. Guiding them at this stage, but giving them clear reasons can help them. Besides the fact it is illegal. That is where we started.
At least you caught them! I always told my kids that I pray that "truth be revealed" because they never could figure out how we knew what they were up to! haha (that prayer does work!)
Hopefully they were just seeing what would happen...and hopefully they didn't feel well later!

Then you need to let them know it's illegal for them to consume alcohol. They are underage and there's no arguing.
If you don't want them to drink then you need to let them know that's it's not okay.
Their response that you do it is pathetic, you are adults and they aren't.
Maybe you need to stop being so "happy and carefree" since you have teens on your hands now. That attitude is fine with toddlers but young adults need more parenting.

""They did it cuz we do it and they thought it was ok since we let them do whatever they want to do anyway. But we only let them cuz we are happy and carefree... but drinking booze is something else.""

That is a poor excuse right there. You allow your kids to do things that they wish because you are happy and carefree? There is no guidance in allowing them to do as they want. You should have had boundaries a long time ago.

As for the booze, they are under age for it and if you were caught allowing them to have access to it, you would be in trouble with the law.

Thanks Brandy Briggs... I did put it all under combo lock. And the beer is in the outside fridge with a padlock.
