I have been having ongoing issues with my 14yo since last year that escalated to me filing an out of control with juvenile and him being put on informal probation & ordered to attend an outpatient substance abuse program. He was arrested 11/3, ordered to 60 day inpatient substance abuse & got unsucessfully discharged for behavior problems 40 days in while waiting transfer to a psychiatric hospital for a full medical/prescription evaluation. He went back to juvenile detention & because I refused to pick him up, I got hotlined to DFS for abandonment. The transfer was completed within days so that case was dismissed. He spent about 45 days in the hospital, was diagnosed with Conduct Disorder with a recommendation he be placed in a 24 hour supervised facility until he can get his behavior under control. During those 45 days, his out of control behavior had continued, even with the med changes, from attacking other residents, staff, throwing chairs at staff, fake-taking meds, broke his hand from punching the wall, etc. Juvenile made the arrangement to transfer him back to detention, but after they got him back called me & said they cannot detain him for the same charge until court 4/5, so I either had to pick him up or be hotlined again. I followed the medical professionals advice it would be unsafe for him to be in my home and didn't pick him up. Now, I've been hotlined again, my son has been placed in a foster home in an undisclosed location, and the DFS social worker is treating me like I'm a piece of crap parent for not bringing my son home, I've been ordered to take parenting classes. They say they have to give the benefit of the doubt to the child until they have reason not to. I found out last week they cannot get him enrolled in school because school don't feel they can keep the situation safe based on the medical reports. It's been 1 1/2 weeks and so far, there haven't been any outbursts from my son, but I'm also worried they are giving him a lot of freedom. This whole system though just sounds crazy!
