Can women over the age of 40 conceive?

Yes you can conceive however it is the egg quality that significantly deteriates with our age, at between 30-35 years are eggs become old and at risk for gentic as well as other birth defects. Unlike men, who reproduce their sperm on a supply and demand, women are born with the number of eggs the will carry through out their life thus causing them susptable to ageing. I am a Nurse, OB/Gyn. While fertility does decrease as we age, there are many 40year old moms out there. Many that conceive without any intervention.
