Looking at a high school curriculum that allows the child to work 6 hours a day at their own pace. Anyone know from experience about this set up?

Where I live in Ohio there are several online schools for k-12 that are governmental funded. I do not pay for anything including the laptop and printer they sent for his use. They even reimburse so much for the internet in our home. My oldest son is enrolled in online high school. We discussed it for a few years because I am against it for social reasons. We finally allowed him to enroll when he was going through counseling due to being suicidal and diagnosed as bipolar. During this time we also found out he was going to become a father. The online school allows him to work at his own pace, take care of his daughter when needed and still allow him to graduate with a high school diploma.

hello ,I went thru this with my daughter and we live in florida and we have florida virtual schooling online and if your child isnt into school work its going to be very diffucult for you as a parent to deal with this type of schooling,it was like pulling impacted wisdom teeth, lol just to get her up and do any assignments we did it for a whole year and it was torture for me but if your child is ready for this kind of school it will work at thier own pace so what ever state you live in check online schooling and hopefully your state will have it available,it didnt work for my girl only because she was lazy and had a bad attitude which didnt help but like I said if your child is ready for this it will be great ,talk to your home school or local high school and hopefully they have the info to set you up, lots of luck with your child and the schooling hope this helped some take care and good luck........wendy

My 17 y/o niece is taking online high school classes and she is doing fantastic so far. She spends at least one hour a day on each subject. She is very good about managing her time. She sets a timer so she knows it has been an hour, then she takes a break.

My kids took drivers ed online with Florida Virtual Schools. It was very good, and informative, in fact me and hubby watched and learned to, as the rules of the road are ever changing. They are still going to normal school, there was just no room on their schedule for anything to add or remove, so we did this class online. It was also free, and drivers ed at the School costs almost $100. So give it a try, I was impressed!!

We took a couple of classes online. As long as your child can work independently and will stay on a schedule, there shouldn't be any problems. Just make sure that you check in often on their progress and participate in the weekly phone calls. We did have a problem at the very beginning communicating with the teacher, but not sure if it was that semester or just that course.

I went to Penn Foster and they allow you to work at your own pace. There only thing is you dont get any new books til you take the test and pass. Online school is excepensive but if u can find a cheap one or can afford it thats good. Other wise I would say go for ur GED i did it and I am now a GED Grad.
