kayla is showing signs of high blood pressure at 13 she is border line pre hypertension, i have been diagnosed with hypertension, how do i get her to diet and stop eating so much i cant tell her no becouse i feal bad.

My 16 yr old son has had HBP for a couple years. He's not overweight, and Dr put him thru a dozen test and everything is normal physically. He does have a lot of anxiety tho and the majority is related to school. Dr thinks that it is the anxiety causing HBP, even tho he's on antidessant/anxiety meds.

weight is an issue but im not tellimg her to eat shes telling me shes hungry and im looking for help on a easier way to say things to help her and all the kids in school are all that size so no one is making her feal bad she likes herself im a concerned parent looking for a way not to hurt her thank you

yes i know about the sodium i myself has hypertension and i am on blood pressure meds but it is that kayla is 172 lbs at age 12 and i cant stop her from eating she is always hungry and if i say kayla you just ate she says im still hungry and i feal bad becouse sometimes she looks like shes going to cry i dont know what to do or how

My daughter as well has HBP, thank God I take them yearly for check ups. However, you have to let her know it not a punishment but a must to keep her healthy. one thing can be done is instead of here making the change why not everyone in the family participating. find recipes with low sodium and if you just dont want to change eating habits again just cut the sodium. Try it for a week and see the difference in weight and you want even miss it.

Would you say go ahead and jump off a bridge because you feel bad.....that is what you are doing in a nutshell...sometimes as a parent you have to say no.
My suggestion is do not allow anything but healthy food in your house. That way she has no choice but to eat health.
I know that most of the time the actual weight is not the issue but other underlying causes and at that age I am sure self image is very important and she probably has a lot of kids who are not helping her feel good about herself.
Try to be positive with her and celebrate everytime she reaches a goal. You need to be supportive but firm and I am sure she will thank you in the end.
Take of firm stand because you don't want to lose her to diabetes or a heart attack.
