My son 17 and is friends are using pain killers to get high. They are smoking them on foil. My son only doing 1-2 but some kids are up to 10 a day. How do you get them into treatment when they don't think they have a problem.

Jodi, if you see things going on, try to document what you see each time, and then after you have a few solid instances that you can give them to go on, they can usually take it from there.
Make sure that you explain to the Narcs division that you are not trying to cause trouble for anyone, and that you are just concerned because of his age, his proximity to your son (friendship), and your knowledge of how badly things can turn out in these situations.

I did call to the Narcs division of the local police dept. They said they would watch his house and see if they could catch him . That was like 3 months ago, nothing every happened.

You know you can report those boys anonymously right? If not for their own sake, for the other kids they are selling the drug to. Im just sayin....Thank Goodness your boy is clean and doing well. I am so glad to hear that.

Oh, good, Jodi. I'm glad he's clean. You have no idea what prescription narcotics can cause as far as medical reactions later...Long story, but due to an intensive history of narcotics, my husband is now finding it difficult to find a medication that he can take for his crushed nerve.
Affluent families often "think" that this can't happen to them, but the reality is that it does, as you can see. The most you can do for the other boy is try to document the times when you see him engaging in the street activity (if possible), and turn him in. They'll have to have something to go on to investigate tho...

Thanks for the advice and NO I do not do prescription pain killers! There are 3 boys in the neighborhood that are all addicted they buy and sell them on the street, thank goodness my boy got a job and actually is clean now! The other boys I'm worried about, because the mom won't turn him into the police so he can get treatment. They are from a very affluent family and feel this can't be happening to them?

Find out where they're obtaining them first. Start with your own medicine cabinet.
Is your son aware that taking prescription meds from whom they were intended is a crime? You may start there.
Bluntly, your son is being stupid, and you need to let him know that. Just because "his friends do it" isn't a good excuse. Sit your boy down, explain that not only is it stupid, because he could end up dead, but it's also illegal to take someone's meds. It could also create other legal and medical issues down the road, in the long run.
Sorry to be so blunt, but my kid would be getting the full on "HOW CAN YOU MAKE SUCH STUPID CHOICES" Lecture, along with appropriate restrictions and punishments, up to and including turning him into the cops for stealing prescription meds.
