He is only 16! As long as he plans beyond high school, like a job, college, etc... etc, he is fine!!

Donna - I think we all worry about our children's futures because we want what's best for them and we want to see them happy and successful and we don't want to see them make the same mistakes we made. I have to keep telling myself that 1) I made it out of my teenage years okay despite all the mistakes I've made (and I've made some pretty big mistakes), 2) happiness means different things to different people 3) just because my daughter will not be a dr or lawyer doesn't mean she's not successful, and 4) I can't live vicariously through my daughter but I can support her in her decisions.
I love this site just for the fact that we find others that are going through the same things we are or we get honest opinions from the "outside looking in" perspective.

That is not unusual - in fact I think it's very common and there are only very few kids at 16 that know what they want to do when they grow up. Most teenagers don't know what they want to be when they grow up. I know many people who don't know what they want to do with their life until well into their college years. He needs to experience different areas of life first to be able to determine what he's good at and what he enjoys. If he's getting good grades and is involved in sports - let it be. He'll figure it out when he's ready.
