Has anyone caught their teen doing drugs? Our 16 year old son seemed high one night, we confronted him, he admitted to smoking weed as we told him we'd take him to get drug tested and the consequences would be much less severe if he fessed up. I've been watching him closely and have some reason to be suspicious, I think he is using, but I've urine testing him a few times and he's negative. This is a real problem in our community! He is otherwise a good kid, not one you'd suspect of this; good athlete, good grades. Has anyone caught their child, how to do you keep them from doing it again?? We talk to our kids about drugs all the time, always knew where he was and who he was with. All the things they tell you to do, none of that worked obviously!

From one mother to another ♥ I understand why this is so concerning for you. You're a great mom! for caring enough to talk to your son about drugs in advance and for reaching out to him now. It's wonderful that you and your son have such open communication and I'm so glad he was honest with you!! That says a lot about you and about him. :) One thing I used to do and something that might help you is to have your son's friends over, get to know them-really, and have an open door policy. I encouraged hanging out and activities to be done at our house. I also read something recently, about why kids use drugs, the stages and warnings, and what to do if a drug problem has already developed. It's on the Focus on the Family website with a lot of other great stuff for parents. :) I encourage you to google it. I think it might give you some clarity into your current situation and guidance. It can't hurt. :) I'll be praying for your son and for you, for God to reveal to you if your son has a drug problem, for direction on how to handle it, and for you to have the right words if any need to be said. Your son is very lucky to have you!! I hope you'll keep us posted.

Hang in there! You are a great parent that is concerned for your son. Continue to communicate with him with lots of love. Let him know that he can tell you anything. Although you may be disappointment by his choices, you will love him no matter what.
Good luck! I wish you all the best.

If he is testing clean, then why don't you believe him? Pot stays in your system a long time as well, so even if he abstained for a week or more, he'd still be testing positive.
