My son is diagnosed with ADHD. He is 13 years old and it has been uphill climb. He drives his teachers crazy, which in turn generates calls for me at work.

He's very very very forgetful. He is is almost incapable of taking care of his possessions. I can't count the coats he left at school, the shoes at friends house, and the cell phones that disappeared. Luckily, when he was diagnosed, he is covered by the 5014 plan, which requires schools to work with parents to ensure the student's academic success.

Just last night, I handed him my keys so he could get something out of the trunk. I reminded him to not lock his keys in the trunk. What do you think he did within a matter of minutes? Yep, keys locked in the trunk.

Yelling, punishing, and restricting have been completely unsucessful. The only thing that has worked is for me to monitor his every move, which is hard when you are at work all day.
