My 22mos old mislabels colors by calling them their exact opposite on the color wheel (ie. if it's red she'll say green, blue she'll say orange, etc). She's never seen a color wheel. Is this unusual?

One of our daughters went through this as well. We thought she was lacking green. She was telling us the exact opposite colors, just like your child and she was about the same age when she went through this. For our daughter, she just grew out of it. She needed training and more time. We just found random things in the house, at the restaurant, etc... and worked on it. We also put some green and red objects, for instance, side-by-side and worked that way. Mostly, she just needed time for her eyes and brain to catch up with each other. We DID worry because our older daughter did NOT go through this, so I don't know what the quality is that causes this, but its nothing to worry about - at this age. If she becomes 4 and she's still having that problem, it might be worth talking to your doctor about it. I hope this eases you a little... =)
