My 11 year old daughter would love to make some new online friends with other kids who see the world through different eyes than most children.

Hi Sue,

I have a daughter who is 9, and in the third grade. She goes to private schools, as she wasn't getting challenged enough in public schools. My daughter definately sees the world in very different eyes, and it took me a looooong time to realize and understand her. Its exhausting sometimes! What kind of stuff/hobbies does your daughter like to do?

I have giftd tween but he is hard to handle he can dibate his way out of anything except with me. He refuses to do his work in school but when he does do it he get A's without any effort. He has been reading since he was three and reads very involved novels now, but refuses to print or write and will only use the computer.   Do you have any problems like this with your daughter.? Do you know anyone who does? I would be willing to let our kids chat but only if I get to know you first. I also worry about external influences so I would sit with him durring these chats. I'm sure you would do the same :) I would also have to see if my son is interested. A little about my son; He wrapped his mind around chess at such a young age he was beeting me when he was 8, he hasn't played in a while and is kinda rusty now.  You know how it is they start to get older and want to be with thier friends and not you anymore. Also he plays alot of video games, I'm not sure what your take on this is, but he wants to design games and has wanted to do that since he was two.  I figure you never stomp on thier dreams no matter what :).  Anyway let me know.

It is a little sad that no one has posted to your request. The internet is a wonderful thing but I have to be honest all the boards I have seen for the gifted have been for the parents. I think it would be great to have a board for the gifted kids. Maybe not in the Circle of Moms but somewhere. If one of the issues is not finding like minded people for our kids then the internet which has already made the world a smaller place should be a great avenue for them to share with each other.

I really hope that by the time my toddler is a tween someone has tackled this.

BTW, the Davidson group is a great place for children to meet but they have to be admitted by scores. I understand that it gives the children a chance to physically meet and make connections twice a year. You might want to look into them for your daughter. And hopefully someone with a child in the same age range will post to your thread soon.
