How do you know if your child is gifted?
We are considering homeschooling but I'd like to know how I know if my child is gifted to see what programs to enroll her in.

Hi Erin. Welcome to the board and you ask the question that most do. How do you know if your child is gifted. The best thing I can suggest is look at some of the threads such as the one pinned to the top of the list. There are some great links and especially one for Ruf's website where she has lists giftedness into levels. There are signs when they are infants and toddlers for giftedness and Ruf goes into detail. I would also suggest you find a copy of Ruf's book 'Losing our Minds'. It is a great starting point.



As for homeschooling, it realy doesn't matter if they are gifted or normal or below average since you homeschool towards their ability but some parents have discovered when working with gifted children it is hard to keep up with them. There are some books directed towards homeschoolin the gifted and just research it on amazon by typing in homeschooling and gifted.



But the best thing to do is go to the pinned thread and start going through the links and see if you see your child in the descriptions.
