I have a six year old I that I need to find some enrichment for. He's not in a gifted program because there aren't any available to us in this area. His school is pretty good at giving him work more suitable to his needs, but they can only do so much. So I need to get him something to do when he's home that will stretch his brain and keep him occupied. I have a one year old and am pregnant again, so I haven't been as up to the task as I normally am.

Anyway, yesterday he heard a Rosetta Stone commercial on the radio and got incredibly excited about the idea of learning a new language. I thought that would be a wonderful thing for him to do, so I am wondering if any one out there has any suggestions for a program or system that would help with this, that is engaging and actually works well for kids. He expressed an interest in German of all things. I took that in high school, so it would be great fun for us to work on it together. Any one have any suggestions? Thanks so much!

I think it's a great idea. They learn languages so quickly when they are young. My 12 year old wants the Latin Rosetta Stone program; I think that's so funny. :-) Isn't it great having children who want to learn? There are so many challenges with gifted children, but there are so many blessings too. Anyway, I have a close friend who learned Spanish using the Rosetta Stone program. She didn't have any complaints.

Scholastic has some great language learning programs. My son is getting one for Christmas (Spanish).
