My son age 7 has is gifted both academically and physically. He can plays sports competitively with kids much older than he is and really enjoys it. I am happy that is like to play, but people see that side of his personality and don't provide any stimulation for his academic gifts. In school it has been a continuing problem. Because he gets so much stimulation, praise and encouragement from sports he see intellectual activities as boring. When I can get him to focus he gets it so quickly that he is bored easily by it. So I need some ideas for great books and activities, to do inside that are challenging and fun.

Maybe start him on another language? Children who are bright can learn several languages and this will develop another avenue of his brain. It can also "take him places" in the future!
