I am currently 14 weeks pregnant. I've had an awful headache for 4 days now. I stayed home from work yesterday, but I can't afford to stay home and rest everyday. About a month ago, I had the same problem. It was headaches for about 5 days or so. The dr. had prescribed me on something but it made me completely sick to my stomach. Next day, I was okay.

Any suggestions? I am taking Tylenol, but I don't want to rely on that to barely function. I feel miserable.

ask your doctor about percoset which is part endocet part tylenol. It tells your body your not in pain. thats what my doc gave me.

One thing that helped me a lot is either getting massages or going to the Chiropractor weekly. I'm not sure I could have made it through with out seeing my chiropractor! Both massages (make sure they have a belly table for pregnancy, or you can lay on your side for them but the belly table works better for me) and Chiropractics are perfectly safe and natural for pregnancy. This is my second pregnancy and I didn't see a chiropractor for my first. I can honestly say the chiropractics helped more than anything else!

if you are like me and hate taking any meds, try drinking cold water. I just went to see my Dr. about this a few days ago and she tried to give me tylenol3. I refused and have just been drinking more water.

FYI, don't take excedrin migraine while pregnant. it has aspirin in it and you shouldn't have that.

One thing you could try, which won't affect your baby, are magnesium tablets. It is a mineral which is missing from many of our diets. Anyway, it is good for your nerves, etc. When I had headaches I just used Paracetemol and Coke (for the caffine). It really helped. Also Chamomile Tea to help me relax.

me and my partner are both major migraine suffers. most things dont help him at all. but I find relief in Excedrine Migrane. theres about 60 mg of caffeine in it that restricts the blood vessels in the brain which will make the throbbing sensation stop.

Thanks for suggestions so far! I can't handle codeine. It makes me super sick. When I get these headaches, I've started to have a small cup of coffee when I take my Tylenol. The caffeine seems to help. I had been limiting caffeine very much (never really did have much before), but a little doesn't seem to hurt! Been trying compresses, too.

I have issues with migraines. I had several during my first pregnancy that lasted 6-8 days. I understand your pain as it can be pretty miserable to function like that. My doctor gave me tylenol with codeine (tylenol #3). It did help, but not everyone can handle codeine. Another thing that helped was tylenol and a coke (or a beverage with caffeine). Excedrin migraine is tylenol, asprin and caffeine (although you can't have asprin so don't take that). Sometimes a coke and tylenol did help or at least take the edge off. I also found that another thing that worked some. I might sound dumb, but sometimes when you have a headache putting pressure on the spot that is hurting helps. Try tying a bandana or something like that around your head (or a massage can help too). Talk to your doctor and see if he/she has any advice. I hope this helps! :)
