My sons will be 1 yr apart..sibling rivalry?

My first two boys are only one year and two weeks apart. They really didn't experience much for sibling rivalry but got along very well. At times I think they thought they were twins when they were younger. They are now 17 and 16 and still get along fairly well, share some common friends, but have different talents and interests. The hardest thing about having them that close together was all the diapers and frustration of the younger one when he was little and couldn't do everything his brother could do.

Sibling rivalry will happen no matter what you do. It gets worse with certain ages. My younger brother and sister are exactly 1 year 20 days apart. They did wonderful until they were like in elementary school. Then during high school they kinda worked as each others' support system. My boys are 2yrs apart and I found it works wonders when you personalize the new baby to the big one. This is YOUR baby brother. My oldest took to the idea of the big brother like a fish to water because the baby was HIS baby brother. It will wear off after a while, but their days come and go. Some days they are best buddies and other days they might rip each other's hair out. It all depends on how cool mommy is about it and how you handle problems when they come around. Right now I guess just let the older one "help" or think he's helping as much as possible. He may just get bored with the whole idea when he realizes that this big brother-thing is a lot of work and he's just gonna let mommy do all the hard stuff and he'll take over at playtime =).

I was 6 years younger than my brother,8 than my sister, and 10 than my oldest sister, My brother and I fought like cats and dogs. But I have a set of b/g twins who will be 2 June 8th this year, and I am expecting my second son July 13th.

My son is one year and four weeks and I have a daughter five weeks old. I think it is awesome. He loves her to bits. Yes they both need a lot of attention but the good news is they grow up together and nappies etc are all over and done with at once. Enjoy it.

My boys are 1 year 1 month and 29 days apart. The oldest was jealous at first, but after telling him time and time again that his brother was little and he had to be gentle, he is awesome. He is even quite helpful now, they are 1 1/2 and 2 1/2.

i was 1 1/5 yrs younger then my brother and we fought like cats and dogs for most of it but we also got along in other areas for being close.

My SIL has kids just over a year apart and they are ok, the begginning is the hardest cause the older one wants what the little one hasbut they understand soon enough.
