We found out at 18 weeks...we had a cervical cerclage at 18 weeks and 2 days and we had laser surgery at 19 weeks they also took off 3 lbs of fluid then...I'm now 21 weeks and our Donor Baby has a brain bleed..

I was diagnosed at 19 weeks with twin to twin transfusion. At one of our regular checkups the ultrasound tech noticed that one baby had a lot of fluid and one had a significant amount less. They sent us to see a specialist and we are being checked weekly. Thankfully, the amounts of fluid haven't changed yet and so far the babies are still measuring the same. They also told me that my cervix is starting to open and shorten. For now, I am on modified bed rest and we are just hoping that things continue to stay the same (or get better! :) So far, we haven't needed any intervention but they have discussed amnioreduction and laser ablation with us, but right now we aren't to the point where they think that is necessary. So we just keep waiting and hope the babies keep on cooking!

Hi everyone! I was diagnosed at 17 weeks... I saw Dr. De Lia weekly, had two laser surgeries that both failed due to excessive bleeding of my uterus and not being able to see through the fluid. I had major complications with anesthesia and respiratory therapy has to help me breathe. Then a couple days later I lost them both. I love and miss them so much!

wow again that sucks that you had to stop breastfeeding i got to had to stop early two my girls were in the hospital 10 weeks so my milk was decrease alot when they got home but i did breast feed them until they were 6 months old but wish i could of longer my son who is five now i breast feed him until he was 18 months i really was lucky the girls were healthy and didn't really have much problems when we got home just had to get into a schedule they are 21 months now and Reese my baby she is the one with the lack of fluid and Ryleigh. Reese did every thing first even though she is the baby they started to crawl 9 months and walk at 15 months which is good cause a full term baby is supossed to walk between 12- 15 and they did that and being premature that was awesome yeah its hard to compare babys but like i always say every one is different i know full terms that did walk until they were 18 months or older the girls are talking a bit i can understand them alot now they are learning a couple of new words a week which is good. good luck with every thing!!!

No, thankfully no NICU time at all. We were in the hospital for 5 days but mainly due to having a c-section. It was kind of heartbreaking for me as I really wanted to breastfeed. The first 2 days they were taking just fine. Gavin (Baby A - donor) always had a hard time latching on but they were both feeding. Once the 2nd night came they stopped feeding. Third day same thing. 3rd night they came in and told me the boys had lost over 12% of their body weight and Devan (Baby B - recipient) was starting to get jaundice so we decided to start supplementing with formula. They just never really took to the boob again. I tried but breastfeeding twins exclusively was so hard. So I pumped for two months giving them both breast milk and formula.

The first 2 months was really awful. Not only did they get colic but they developed severe acid reflux. They couldn't keep anything down. They were actually projectile vomiting. We were in the ER so much. We were all concerned they might have had pyloric but it turned out to just be the acid reflux and they had to get on medication. Once they got that they were like normal babies. So instead of crying for 6 hours straight it went down to 3 LOL. Colic sucks!

They will be 7 months November 26. They still aren't sitting up on their own yet. I know we're not suppose to compare our babies to other babies but sometimes it's hard not to. Especially when all the other kids their age have been sitting up since they were 4 or 5 months old. My boys are fighters. Like all babies with TTTS they are fighting before they even get here.

Because of their acid reflux they couldn't/wouldn't do tummy time at their first few months because they would throw up as soon as they got on their tummies and just cry due to the pain. So they got a late start with that. They roll around and they spend most of their day now on their belly. When I sit them up they'll stay up for a few seconds but they don't get their themselves yet and don't stay up long. They look like they want to start crawling. They can lift their belly off the ground and keep pushing with their legs but haven't figured out the arms yet. Just don't know when or if I should be/get concerned.

How long did it take your kids to sit up, crawl, stand, walk, talk?

I found out at 20 weeks. It happened so quickly. Went in on 12/16/09 and check up was totally normal. They measure the same and all was good. I started having just god awful back pain but I thought it was "normal" for a twin pregnancy. Went in for my next check up on 12/29/09 and had severe twin to twin transfusion. Was scheduled for surgery the next morning. I was on bed rest for the remainder of the pregnancy. I was in the hospital twice a week for constant check ups. I was in so much pain the whole pregnancy. I thank my fiance tremendously and honestly believe he helped me keep them in as long as I did. He massaged my back and legs everyday keeping my circulation going and doing his best to relax me. I never got puffy or had swollen feet at all.

My doctors said I was a rare case seeing as I actually made it to my scheduled c-section date at 37weeks (April 26, 2010). Boys were born 5lb 6oz and 4lbs 14oz. They are almost 7 months now and are 17lbs 9oz and 16lbs 3oz.

It was a rough pregnancy to say the least. In the end TOTALLY worth it!
