Do any of you fellow fibromyalgia sufferers practically end up on bed rest after doing laundry and/or going up and down stairs a lot?

Hi Misty my name is Amanda iv had fibromyalgia for 2 years and im really struggling with housework my mum has ended up doing my ironing and my 3 children help do things aswell. My 10yr old son Nicolas is amazing he helps me all the time he helps me upstairs and sometimes has to pull me out of my bed. so i know how you feel i think its normal for this fibro to make the easiest jobs very hard like running a marathon and i could sleep all the time because of it. My gp told me sleep when i need it do little jobs when i can but i also have to come to terms with what i can't do anymore like my gardening which i miss alot. keep strong but sleep when you need it don't over do things because you will suffer later on trust me..take care Amanda x

I am taking Lyrica 200mg and it just barely helps for it is not strong enough.

I do end up on bed rest and I am finding it difficult to clean my home and do the basics, my family is getting fed up with me and not wanting anything to do with me because I hurt all the time.My husband is also finding it difficult for he never expected this when we married and there are times I cannot do my wifely thing in the bedroom. Please if anyone has any advice contact me.

For me, it's cleaning the floors that kills me! By the time I've dust mopped, vaccumed, and steam moped the floor I've just about done myself in! It never fails, my baby will always wake up from his nap the minute I'm finished and I never get to rest. It's so hard, and I know how you feel.

Yes, I thought I was the only one. I just cried seeing that there are others who experience the same thing. How are you coping with it?

Too right. I find the stairs a massive diffculty and the laundry and ironing very draining. I could cry sometimes with the weakness and pain. x

Yes. That is why I try to avoid stairs.. I had my 16th surgery on my back 2 years ago, hoping that I could then play with my grandkids. I still can't.The youngest oine is a moose and the other 2 live in florida. I am now completely fused and cememted from the base of my neck to my tail bone. So on top of fb I have pain from all tthe surgeries. Thank god for Lyrica and Cymbalta.

yes I do I'm so glad to hear that someone else has the same type of problem. I try to limit my stair climibing but my bedroom and bathroom are upstairs so this is a problem but I find I just stay upstairs my children are older so they can help out but it is not fair for them either. So at times a few days a week i do the stairs a lot and the pay the price afterwards

I have been finding it difficult just to wash a sink full of dishes without taking at least 3 breaks because the muscles in my upper arm become tired, weak and achy. I hate this 24/7 pain so much luckily I do not do my laundry anymore and send it out to a wonderful laundromat.

oh yeah and they arent being all pulled out of shape by hanging on the line wet

Oh yeah.......I stopped hanging out my washing except sheets and blankets at about the same time my back went......its just not worth the pain and i discovered the increased power bill from the dryer really isnt all that bad considering the cloths dont fade....the elastic doesnt deteriorate so quickly in the sun and you dont get peg marks on the cloths...or rust marks from the pegs or line....and you dont need to iron at all if you fold straight from the dryer while it is still hot.....so overall it actually saves you time....keeps everything at the right level and you arent repeatedly bending (dryers can easily be wall mounted without too much fuss) and it saves me a hell of alot more money over time than what im spending on power because the cloths are keeping their condition longer and arent being blown off the line in storms resulting in double washing and are not being subjected to birds bats and other creatures flying over head leaving droppings in their wake.....making more work for me

.....my mum stopped commenting on the fact that I just dont use my washing line for over 18 months now.....I think she has realised I have rationalised the cost well enough that im not going to listen to the harping about the power bill lol im the one who has to pay it at the end of the day

bruce does....I do but due to other conditions...

im currently in the process of modifying my laundry for ME!!....I have my washing machine at the end of a long straight bench and the dryer at just above waist height....its working well I can do my washing my self with minimal pain. and i can now do all the folding myself
