what temp are you gals setting your pads on? i have never burned myself with one. i almost always set mine on low and i have the kind that shut themselves off if they get too hot.

i use my heating pad on my neck on a daily basis-----i go through more heating pad s than most people!!! i also use a heating blanket on my legs when they get aching, but i cover it with another blanket to try and hold the heat in. it doesn't get as hot as a heating pad does on low---but it does help some.

I use heat ALOT so does my partner, hot showers, spa at the local pool. I have numerous types of heat pads chemical activated ones, ones I can boil....I do have Ice packs but I use them exclusively for my knee's. useless for my back.

the BEST though is simply getting an old towel soak it in water remove the excess put it in a plastic microwave safe bag and throw it in the microwave. then wrap it in another old towel and throw it on the back works wonders.

I have burned my back more than once and my feet when iv done it in the shower.......it heals..I don't often turn on that cold tap at all to be honest eh. chilli pads aren't bad either and stay put while you walk around.
