Hi, I'm Karen, I,v had chronic pelvic, groin n hip pain on n off since I was 5months pregnant with my daughter Abbi-Jai, shes just turned 11. I hav a 5 n a half year old son Kaici. I'm a singlt at home mum. I'm on constant pain killers, n when the pain is really bad I hav to get around on crutches or mobility scooter! It really gets me down, I am on antidepressants too.my consultant isnt understanding n seems like he cant be bothered. I'v had to chase up appointments and results! I'm so so pleased there are other mums out there who feel the way I do. My family and friends are really lovely n helpful n try to understand, but they dont really know how I feel. I dont want to be constantly moaning so I do put on a front n say I'm fine.

Conditon: RA and chronic hives almost 5 years since I got pregnant with my first child(the hives come and go but both times in the last few years when they start it takes 8 months till they are gone which is miserable esp. in the middle of the summer pregnant!) I just weaned myself off the predisone and am taking Plaquenil and naproxen like it's candy. I'm always hoping to find a naturel way of dealing with the RA but so far no luck.... the diet i had some luck with is hard to follow with 2 little ones and a meat loving husband to feed!

Hi everyone.  My name is Beth. I'm a happily married 27 year old mother of an adorable 19 month old that never stops moving.  I work full time as a licensed vet tech which has become quite a painful job lately.

I have had a sleeping disorder (i simply don't fall asleep at night) since I was a kid.  The doctors say, the lack of sleep has caused chronic fatigue syndrome (since around 2000), fibromyalgia which became severe after I gave birth to my son, and recently carpal tunnel syndrome which is what seems to be affecting my job and life the worst...i keep dropping everything and can't feel what I'm doing in my hands.  Soon enough I should be back on meds, sleeping again and on my way to better health.

I wish everyone the best of luck with their conditions.

My name is Tishia - I am 27 and a stay at home mom of 2 - a 5 yo boy and a 1 yo girl. I was diagnosed with JRA when I was 11. I also have depression and social anxiety disorder. I wonder if I have chronic fatigue syndrome - but I have never been diagnosed - and my doc never really pays much attention when I tell him how tired I am all the time.

I have been taking Relafen ever since my diagnosis. It has mostly worked pretty well - but I have been having more pain than usual just the past few weeks so the doc just put me on prednisone a few days ago. Luckily no side effects yet! I hope it starts working soon...

Anyway, I don't have a lot of friends (I am a quiet homebody type of person) and would love to make some :) It would be nice to have friends who understand what you're going through :)

Condition, how long you've had it: Depending on which doctor you talk to, Fibromyalgia and/or an obscure form of Muscular Dystrophy. My neurologist says that the fibro symptoms can be explained by the MD, but I am not sure yet.  I have had it/them all my life, but the diagnoses came in 2002 and 2003. The pain and fatigue began to really affect my life in 2002.
My conditions are hard to define and even harder to separate, but it goes something like this: I'm tired, I hurt, and I have muscle weakness, which affects what I can do, especially with my kids.

Children's ages: my boys turn 2 and 5 in March.

Are you a SAHM, WAHM, WOHM: SAHM who is thinking of being a p/t WAHM because I need something to DO. I know, raising 2 boys and keeping house is something to do, but I need to be doing something. Does that make sense to anyone?

Favorite holiday song: I'm just gonna assume this doesn't really apply anymore.

What I am looking for out of this group: (Marisa, you should have added this one) An understanding ear when I want to complain. Gentle advice when I need to be told I have complained enough. Supporting arms and ideas when I have run out of options. A chance to help others with whatever I have learned from all this.

Hi,

My name is Sumi. I have several conditions: Fibro (suspected as early as 1995 but not diagnosed until 2002); connective tissue disease (at first they thought it was sero-negative RA, then they thought it was lupus, but now they call it connective tissue disease but are silent as the which kind - mixed or undifferentiated); RSD (left leg - this developed after knee surgery in 2005); hyper-mobile joints (resulted in surgeries to both knees, right elbow, right shoulder, and right wrist); my rheumatologist now says I also have CFS; I also have chronic back pain. I am a SAHM now (I retired on disability from my job as an assistant professor). My twins are almost 6 months old.

[deleted account]

My name is Jackie. I have DDD and Radicular Neuropathy. I have had 5 levels fused in my spine. Three in the neck and 2 in the lumbar area. I have 3 children, Keith-27, Tory- 22, and Seth-9. My 9yr old son also has Asperger's Syndrome so this has been a real challenge for me. I am lucky to have a wonderful supportive husband.

My name is Janet.  I am 51-years old.  I had a bad knee replacement surgery which resulted in my losing my left knee, having to have it fused (I'm stiff-legged now with a 2 inch build up on my shoe), I suffer from severe back pain, had to have a hip replacement on the right side, depression, and fibromyalgia.  Other than that I feel great!!! lol.  I had to go off work and file disability - that's been hard because I loved my job.  Gets frustrating at times when I want to do things around the house, et cetera but, I am learning to adjust and thank the Lord I didn't lose my leg.

I am a SAHM and have two awesome kids, a 4 year old daughter, and a 12 month old son. I am homeschooling for preschool this year with my 4 year old.

I am wondering how to get through my daily walk as a mother dealing with the constant pain, fatigue and depression that accompanies these illnesses.

[deleted account]

Hello All.
My name is Roxane.
I have several - I am Post-Head injured from an accident in 1993. I had a 24.7 migraine for 14 years, with Brain damage (gr. 4 reading and gr 5 math).
I have suffered depression all my life, but have some better months that others.
I have chronic knee pain from an injury in highschool.
The topper - Fibro - diagnosed early 2007. I don't think I need to describe the pain that goes with this, but it is chronic, and harsh. (and all of you are going through the same and understand)
I have a 9 year old daughter, who is really going on 30... LOL!
I would love to work. I can't work in my field due to my physical limitations. So I am bouncing from position to position until I can find one that I am not in excruciating pain.

Favourite holiday song - Carol of the Bells.

Conditon:..Shoulder pain-1997 car accident. 2 surgeries and had all the bones removed from the shoulder now am 30%disabled because of it. RA diagnosed 13 years ago. 5 years cancer, the treatment caused a auto immune response and my body is attacking the soft connective tissue which causes pain all the time. I was diagnosed with Fibro 3 years ago and am now under pain management. The chemo also cause some neuropathy but that is minor. I try to do what I can, when I can. Good days and bad. Probably more bad but I have gotten used to the pain. I wish my family understood more about the limitations the pain and the meds put on me.

I have a step daughter who is 18 and in college and a 15 year old step son.

I am all of the above. I stayed home with the step kids. Homeschooled the 15 year old until he went to high school (he has aspergers syndrome). Worked outside the home in between. Opened a photography studio in my home. and got laid off 3 months ago due to budget cut backs. Still looking for work, still working from home and still doing the home work thing with the 15 year old. Hubby is in Iraq so now I am doing it alone.

Hello all. I am a 39 year old mom of three wonderful girls. Twins that are 7 and a big girl who will be 11 in 2 1/2 months. I have Osteoarthritis in my left knee due to a knee injury...alright I was showing off on the drive way showing my then 7 year old how to hit a tennis ball against the garage to keep her amused. I am doing as well as possible. I wouldn't say that I am in pain all the time...I guess that the bone on bone feels strange and my movements are not smooth. I also deal with muscle differences between my two legs. I am hoping that this next round of pt will help with increasing my left quad. I try to do some form of exercise at least three days a week. I have been dealing with this for about three 1/2 years. I am a Sahm thankfully...truthfully I don't know how I would be able to take care of myself and my family if I had to work either at home or outside. My favorite holiday song are virtually all of them. Sorry couldn't pick just one.

Hi everyone....

My name is Laurie, and I have ankylosing spondylitis and several related problems. I was diagnosed in 2001 but think I've actually had it since the early 90's. I have six children: 9, 7, 6, 4, and twin 3 month olds. I stay home and we homeschool, so life is busy even on days I can't move easily. Fortunately, the TNF inhibitors have helped enough that I can do what needs to be done even if I don't feel so good afterwards :)

My favorite holiday song.... hmmm.... I guess if I have to narrow it down to one it would be O Holy Night. But I love Christmas music so that's a hard decision!

Hi,

My name is Melanie, and I have degenerative osteoarthritis and bipolar disorder. I also care for my family members: my husband suffers from schizoaffective disorder, my 14-year-old son has bipolar disorder and my 11-year-old son has ADHD and depression. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2001, and OA in 2004, although it is passed on to me genetically. My mom had both her hips replaced before she was 60.

I am currently attending school, and I believe every mother is a working mother. I will graduate in June with two AA degrees, one in Humanities and one in Social/Behavioral Sciences.

"O Holy Night" is probably my favorite Christmas song, although I am over my head with the holidays already, and am ready to not hear ANY more holiday songs right now.
