It feels like time stops and you're stuck in some twilight zone where you'll be in labor forever...then you're baby comes out and it feels like you're stomach deflated...the only way to describe it is like you're stomach passed gas. Then just as you feel disgusted with the process you see this baby blinking at you thinking the same thing as you "what the hell just happened???" Then you smile and cry and cry and smile...for the next 18 years :-)

The pain is completely different than you imagine. Not at all in your vagina. Its more in your core. Put it this way, its almost worse than breaking your leg in half. Once youve had a baby, you can take anything with ease.

First and second not so bad, had drugs. Third one had drugs didnt work so it was natural and hurt really bad. Fourth one was breach and two months early, had her c-section and was in labor for 4 days. #4 was the worst pain ever. They tried to make me push her out breach cause they thought her bum was her head. OUCH OUCH OUCH OUCH OUCH is all i gotta say.

I've gone through 2 births.... felt like squeezing a watermelon out of your butt (that's what I was screaming when they told me to wait to push until the doctor got there, lol).

totally worth the pain though... just like a tattoo. the end result is always worth it!

Quoting Katrina:

After 2 natural births the only thing that come to mind is aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa and when you hold the baby in your arms its awwwwwwwwwwwwww....
I'll never forget that pain - like someone trying to rip me apart.....but as soon as I saw the babies it was all good :)

Totally agree. I had 2 natural births too. My first was with a 9 pound baby!

I remember the pain being like bad tooth ache and trapped wind that went on and on with alot of stinging at the end. I had two pretty different labours, first was 30 hours and the second was only 5. The second birth was a water birth and really helped with the stinging and relaxed me alot.

I've experienced it all in 2 births. My first (son) was 6 weeks premmie born natural (5pd5oz), OUCH. My 2nd (daughter) was a C-Section. See was 10days overdue and breech. They stopped my labour, tried twice to turn her then I went into full labour again before I was taken for a c section (9pd8oz) Thank god for a ceasar.....

Contractions are a completely undescribable kind of pain, I would much rather push!! Pushing to me feels like doing a big poo, accompanied by a strange burning feeling. I find it amazing how the pain really does seem to disappear as soon as they lay that baby on you and you get your first look and cuddle of the little life you have created. Its all totally worth it in the end!

I'll never know. I had two C-sections. My first was breech and my second I planned cause I wanted to be fixed at the same time and I already had the scar.

I had a drug-free waterbirth. It was the worst pain I've ever felt in my whole life (well once I was dilated to a 9 and stuck in transition for 4 hours...which is NOT typical. Just bad luck, I guess.) but as soon as he was born, the pain went away and it was so worth it. I'm 6 months pregnant with number 2 and will be having another drugfree waterbirth. So it couldn't have been that bad...lol

I have 6 kids and my labours have got quicker with each one, all natural. First was 6 hours start to finish; second was 3 hours; third, fourth and fifth were 2 and half hours; number six was 40 minutes start to finish - so fast that her dad 'caught' her and then about 5 minutes later the midwife arrived. I don't find them too painful, maybe I have a high pain thresh hold...

Out of 3 natural births it was the second that still sticks in my mind. A 10lb 11/2 oz baby with NO painkillers, not even gas. That was 14 years ago and i still cringe. Took them well over an hour to stich me up.

I had 5 children in 5 years and it did not get easier as they say....lol

My last one was like trying to push a 10lb. watermelon through a 2in. garden hose...lmao but they are all worth it....would have them all natural again!!!

I was induced and in labor for 24 hours before they made me have a c-section. I was totally doped up, not by choice, I was pre-eclamptic and it was getting worse. I don't remember much of anything from my daughter's first day. It was like a was in pain then asleep and then somehow this baby was handed to me and I was told it was mine. It was a horrible feeling not to have any recollection of my daughter's birth except for what I've been told or scene in pictures.

I got the epidural during my labor but I had the worse back labor ever. The nurse told me there were no drugs for that.

Honestly the pushing out of the baby wasn't bad at all, but the actual contractions sucked!!!! Good thing you get a prize in the end.

like i was being riped open and then it was all "forgotten" when i saw my babies. did it twice naturally with no pain killers, though if i had to do it again, i may opt for some lite pain killers!
