I'm a step-grandmom. I met my grandson when he was six. Immediately he knew we should be related somehow because he started calling me Aunt Kathy. I married his grandfather about a year later and he enjoys calling me Grandma Kathy, although that took some getting used to for both of us after my husband corrected him. I look younger than my husband, so they say, and my grandson looked at my husband and said, "But don't you think she's a b it young for this grandma stuff?" Of course I said, "I love you, Grandson!" He's now eleven.

hi i am a grandmother on a full time basis.my granddaughter lives with myself and her grandad as her mum is only 19 with grade 2 autisiam.she is not able to cope with her daughter 24/7 as she has found it very hard being a young mum.our granddaughter is 10 months old.we have a residance order so she is able too live with us untill she is much older.we have a granddaughter of 11 months old and a new granddaughter just over a week old a grandson 5 years old and another grandchild due christmas time this year.we dont see the outher grandchildren as they live much further away.being a fulltime grandmother is what i love doing.

Hello Mary Jane! I am a first time GRANDMOTHER, and a brand new one to that, as our Little Sasha was born on December, 8th, just 4 days ago! I also teach secondary and high school kids, but it is a private boarding school in Northern Montana, whereas my little granddaughter with her parents live in bay Area, CA. I am afraid i will be able to go meet with them all only in Summer, but it's still, so much joy! You are lucky to be all together, Mary Jane! Myself, i have 3 kids, all adults now (27,25,19), and this is my second son's daughter that is! I love Montana and my school to no end, but it's so far from Cali, to see my grand girl often, which is awfully sad... Sasha's other grandma, her mom's mother came here for her birthday all the way from Russia, and i cannot even go down 1000 miles south right now :( So, my happiness is mixed with sadness, and i try to deal with it as i can... :(,,,

yes, i have a similar story. my daughter had my sixth granddaughter and her name is charisma. it is so great to have her with us. i also am a substitute teacher but haven't worked for awhile. i am taking care of charisma while christy goes to school. i love taking care of her. i think a Grandmother should be voted into circle of moms!

I'm a grandma of two and one on the way! I'm a middle school librarian. Unfortunately, my grandkids live far away - NJ & NC. One daughter is in the military and comes home once a month for drill, so I get to babysit while she's doing that. Love that time with my granddaughter!

Grandkids are the best! Made a snowman with them yesterday. They go home today. (snif) But I'll see them again either Friday night or Saturday morning and probably through Sunday. Then on Tuesday again, if the roads aren't bad.

I'm a grandmother of three, Cyrus Cain (4), Sonya Fey (2), and Lilly Elise Hartoon (3 months). Their momma is about to graduate and become a teacher. Their daddy is in college for programming.

I take care of them at least once a week despite living an hour away. Sometimes they come and stay for a few days so their parents can catch up on school work and such. I ADORE my grandkids!

Yup. Got three grands myself and htey are living home with us and our daughter. Fun reliving elementary school homework once again... even though I work with junior high.

Sure! I am a teaching Grandmother. I have 10 grandkids ages 13-3. I teach kindergarten and at one time or another had grandkids living with me. I too brag constantly because my grandchildren are my husbands and my whole life.

You are so blessed to be able to see your grandchild every day! And Kara has the benefit of living with both Mommy and Grandma. Right now, she's the shining light of your home. Just enjoy it while you can! By the way, it does NOT take a village to raise a child; it takes a whole family in a loving home to raise a child.
