first day of kindergarten

I just found out that my son's first day of kindergarten is also my first day of school. His school is an early start school so I thought I would be ok, but my school has decided for just next year to go back early on the same day. The schools start at the same time and are 15 minute drive apart. I am feeling horrible about not being able to bring my son to his first day of school. Any one have a similar problem or a possible solution?

I thank you for all your input and I think what I am going to try to do is have a meet the teacher day at the park for my class on the Sat before school. all the kids and moms can meet a new friend ect. Then i will ask if Kindergarten can start 15 min late on the first day of school. My principal is awesome about family stuff, should work out, I think

Do they have a meet the teacher day so you can go ahead of time meet the teacher, check out the class and maybe take that first picture? This could be a way to be a "first day" for you.
