Formula and gas pain

Jay, my 7 month old, was up all night with an upset stomach. We are trying to switch him to formula during the day because I'm not pumping enough. Soy formula didn't give him gas, but after two weeks he started throwing it up. Dr. said to stop soy. I don't think he is allergic to dairy because I eat tons and he doesn't have gas with my breast milk. Gentlease is a little better, but he is still fussier than with breast milk. Any ideas?

We ended up on Lactose Free Similac... however, our biggest success EVER was when I started listening to my heart instead of the dr and put her on Carnation Good Start... no more gas, no more constipation... it was so much cheaper too (not why we tried it, but certainly a bonus!)

the dairy that you eat that's passed into breastmilk has already been digested by your body, so he's going to probably react to it differently. I think it's pretty normal for him to be fussier, since his belly is used to breastmilk, which is so easy to digest. Kudos to you for pumping (I did all last school year). It's hard and a lot of people don't understand why we choose to do it. If you haven't read 'the milk memos', you should give it a read. It's a great book about how hard it is to work and pump. It's funny, and it has good information at the same time.

Little tummy drops. They have really helped my daughter with her gas problems.
