Hello everyone, I can most positively identify with you guys. I teach K-3 children with autism. I have eleven students with moderate to severe autism and there are those days I come home and just want quiet. With two girls ages seven and four there is no peace and especially no quiet.

I teach 6th grade at an Elementary School. Next year, I'll be teaching 6th grade in a Middle School. The district is changing over to the middle school concept beginning the 2009-2010 school year. I have a 5th grade daughter and a 3rd grade son. I am wrapping up a 6-month fundraising marathon... butterbraids at school, Boy Scout popcorn, and Girl Scout cookies. Thank goodness for Spring Break!!!

I understand and empathise. I have 2 girls aged 2 and 6 and teach a class of 11 and 12 yr olds. When I feel the same I try to remember what it was like before I had my gorgeous girls? What did I do with my time? I think I read a lot, and it might have involved a glass of wine or two! Whatever it was must have been a waste of time because there is nothing more special than sitting down with a book, (but this time with pictures) with my girls and just enjoying being with them. Take time to appreciate their unique age and all of the interesting things they have to tell you!!! I am reminded by my friends on a regular basis that they grow up way too fast and before you know it you will have that time back to yourself and the peace and quiet that you crave. If that doesn't work then insist on mummy time for 30 minutes and put on a really good DVD and break open the Chardonnay! Good luck.
