Hi everyone! I am a mom of an amazing 6-month-old girl, Madelyn, and I teach 4th grade in MA. I have a very tough class this year which has made it tremendously difficult to transition back to working while having a baby. I am glad for the support I anticipate from these boards!

I am a mom to an eleven year old son and a nine year old daughter. They are very involved with EVERYTHING! I teach 7th grade communication arts (English), 7th grade reading, 6th grade reading, and HS Mass Media Communications (Newspaper & Yearbook). This is my second year teaching, and, well, I'm not sure that it is possible to balance time!!!!

I teach fourth grade at a university model school, so only two days a week! My daughter is in first grade at the same school and my little guy goes to the preschool affiliated with the church.

It's my first year back since having the kids and I'm loving it!

My name is Jennifer. I am the proud mommy of a 2 year old daughter and we are trying for a second. I teach Jr. Kindergarten/Reception class at an international school in Saudi Arabia, I have also taught grade 1 and Kindergarten at a different international school in Uzbekistan (where my girl spent the first year of her life) and kindergarten special education in KS. I love the fact that my job provides day care for my daughter, she is in the school building with me and my husband (elementary teacher/counselor) so we can see her when we want to.

I have a 16 month old son and I teach 7th and 8th graede science! I just started this year after taking a year off from teaching to be with Zachary. I taught for 5 years in Virginia before we moved back home to the Buffalo, NY area last year. I'm finding it very difficult to run a household, take care of a 16 month old and find time to complete the demands of teaching. It's like it's my first year teaching again b/c I have so much to get ready and prep. for because I never taught this curriculum in NY before.

I just wanted to say hi to everyone, my name is Jessica and I am a special ed teacher. Right now I am just subbing a few days a week but I have been lucky enough to be working in the same two rooms and that helps keep the stress down a bit. Hubby and I have one son, Brendan, who is 4 and loves being able to go to the sitter while I work :)

Hi, my name is Juanita. My son Owen is almost 2. I teach 3 classes of Algebra 1 (mixed grades from 9-11) and 1 class of Algebra 2 (mixed grades from 9-12!). Even with a reduced schedule, I can barely hang onto my sanity. We're also doing the potty training thing.

Oh, not to mention, I'm back to teaching from a year off to take care of my babe, I'm at a new school, more challenging student population, and different curriculum. Phew, I think that's it

Hi! I have been a Special Ed teacher for 6 years and a Mommy for 3 years. I teach in a self-contained 3rd+4th grade class of 11 students. My son, Trip, is a trip! He is in a daycare that I can see from my classroom window. (The first few weeks, I found myself daydreaming out that window, wishing I were with him. But, I have come to realize that he needs the interaction of other people in his life, just as my students need me in their lives.) Happy teaching/mothering!

Hi. This is my 16th year of teaching. I teach 7th grade Spanish this year although all the previous were grades 9-12 Spanish and French. I am mother of three. I have two boys (13, 9 1/2) and one girl (17 mo.). I have quite the spread. I was remarried 3 1/2 years ago. School has always left me exhausted but when I switched to middle school this year and loved it, I found that I'm not nearly as tired or cranky. I think it was time for a change. :)

This is my 14th year of teaching, and currently I enjoy teaching 8th grade English at a middle school in Racine, WI. I have two daughters, ages 3 and 6 and a wonderful husband. I love coming home to them after a busy day at school. It's hard at times to find time to keep up on paperwork and grades with the attention I need to give at home and at school. Any suggestions?

I am due mid-March, so I am trying to do Alternate Assessment (any of you special ed. people will know what I'm talking about!) AND plan for the last 8 weeks of school (or more!) that I will be missing!!! After my maternity leave, I will be going back to full-time teaching in August of next school year.

I have wonderful 9 year old daughter, and I teach full time. I changed grade levels this year and am teaching 4-6 pull out special education in Colorado. I seem to be moving up in grades right along with my daughter. I feel for those who are mothers, wives, teachers, and students. I completed my Masters in Linguistically Diverse Education this past May. We are the pillars that keep everything moving.

I teach grade one in Lloydminster, Alberta. I'm a soon-to-be mommy of a little boy who is due next week! I plan on going back to work in September, but I'm already nervous about leaving my baby when he's only 10 months old, and about having the energy to be a mom and a teacher. I guess I'll figure things out when the time comes!

I teach kindergarten in rural Southwest Missouri. I have two daughters, Gracie, who will be three in two weeks, and Gwendylan who is 7 months old. I love being a mommy and a teacher, but I am still working on trying to find balance in my life to include some time for myself. Looking forward to meeting other moms who are teachers and finding out some tips on how to manage everything.

Hi! I'm Melissa. I have 7 year old twin boys and I've been teaching for 14 years. I teach second grade and my boys are in first at my school. It can be very tough working all day with kids that are about the same age as my own and then going home to deal with more of the same. It is great for childcare purposes though since my kids can go to work with me.

Can't wait to get to know more teacher moms!

Hello! I'm back to teaching full-time since before having kids--I have a 4 year-old boy and a 2-year old daughter. Wow! It is totally exhausting and overwhelming to give emotionally to my middle school students and then come home and try to find the energy for my own! I do think I'm a better teacher now that I'm a parent, however, because I understand the parents of my students and don't get as annoyed as I used to?! -Wendi

I am taking a little time off from teaching to stay at home with my four months old for a few months. I am hoping to get back into it in January. I teach middle school language arts and social studies. If nothing else, it has taught me how to be patient and consistant. I was naturally patient, but I dont know many people who are naturally consistant. My old job had me teaching grades 6,7, and 8 writing, literature, grammar, and vocabulary everyday. I also had to grade and plan for all of those things. Since I had was having my baby, I decided I just couldn't return to that much work. It will always be work teaching, but if I had stayed, I would never see my family. Nice meeting everyone!
