My son was constipated all the time, we would lay him on the dressing table and insert the rectal thermometer as if taking his temp. then just move it slightly. It would stimulate the bowel and he would go. Ask your doctor if you could add some fibersure to your water or formula if bottle feeding that may help.
Check with your pediatrician first, but if you get the go ahead, you can try putting 1 tsp. of Karo syrup in a bottle or every bottle until it works. My children didn't have the problem, but a baby I cared for did. He had syrup in every bottle for weeks until he got better. Another thing that works is bike pedalling their legs while they are on their backs on the floor or changing table. Sometimes letting them sit in a warm soapy bath helps too.

I too feel your pain. My son had constipation problems starting at about 2 mos, and he still does. Pediatricians were no help. I was told to put a little prune juice in his bottle, that was a quick fix, but didnt solve the problem. My son is now 9, and I took him to a gastro doc as many other moms suggested. It was not until I did my own experiment that I found the problem. We switched him to Soy products, and after 9 years of him suffering, and us watching him suffer, have we found relief. I shared our results with another mom who was having the same problem, and BOOM, no more constipation. It is worth considering, and GOOD LUCK!!!!

We had that same problem when my daughter was first born, we tried switching her brand of formula a couple times and eventually put her on soy formula and it completly fixed the problem!! She was regulated by the next week right after we switched. It worked miracles!! Ask your doc about switching formula : ) good luck!

when my little guy was only a couple months old he too suffered with constipation. my doc told me to stir 2-3 teaspoons prune juice into his bottles at each feeding until he moved. then use it as maintenance once daily. worked for us

My daughter also had this problem as an infant. We took her off regular formula and put her on low iron formula. Before we did that though, we would give her warm prune juice. Sounds awful, but it helped her after the second day we gave it to her. Also, as long as your doctor says it's alright, try giving you baby a bit of rice cereal. Good luck. I know it's hard seeing your baby in pain. My oldest is almost 15 and I still hate seeing her in pain.

i feel for you my five month old suffers very badly from constipation, as an aide to clear the blockage you can use glycerin suppositories although this is not a long term solution. Check your formula, baby might not support it, i changed over six times and now have to give milk direct from our cows boiled and mixed with water. My doctor also said even at two months i could give orange juice. When you do start to wean in a few months time avoid carrots and banana. Hope this helps

When my 8 month was little she would have problems every now and then and we were told to move her legs in a bicycle motion. We would do this for a few minutes a few time that day. A friend of mine had to "take her baby's temp" to help relieve gas and help him go. Hope this helps.

Wow I feel your pain. My daughter was and still has many constipation problems (she is now12). We have even gone to see a gasterologist. The only thing that helps her now is a colon cleanse once a month, loads of fun. BUT the one thing I did notice was when I put her on low iron formula as an infant this helped. The only problem is doctors don't like this, but it stopped the screaming and I just had them check her iron levels every 6 months. They were always high. Also miralax helped some, but find out from the doctor if this is safe for infants. (I know above 2 years is fine). There is also baby suppositories (not sure if I spelled that correct). They say children usually grow out of this, that is the good news. Bad news- they may not. Hope this helped.
Oh I found if the my baby across my legs facing down and rubbed her back this helped the pain. Good luck!
