I am a retired Special Education teacher. Loved every day of it. Taught in Hot Springs, Ark. and Mayfield, Ky. I now tutor two days a week. It`s hard to get the teacher out of you once you retire.

Wow! I plan to work two more years after this school year and I spend much of my time thinking about what to do next. At the moment, I don't feel like I want to teach. My plan is to volunteer for one or two organizations...perhaps the Red Cross or for the hospice at our local hospital. So far I do not have grandchildren..if I did I would plan on doing some child care:)

I am almost walking in your shoes, I am about to retire and love every day of teaching. I've taught 30 years in one school...and I agree with you that its hard to take the "teacher" out of you once you retire...good luck....good idea to tutor. Everyone says you need something to "retire to..." so until I find that, I will teach for another year....You will be a "life-time" teacher... Jackie : }
