I'm finishing up my AA and plan to start my BA in English with a certificate for k-5 in the spring of 2011. Anything you have to share would be appreciated if you can relate. :) Thanks!

I can definitely relate, having had all 4 of my children go through my elementary school work place for 5-6 years. I loved being a teacher at my children's elementary school. I was always near for support for them, I was always informed of any problems immediately, and could keep a watchful eye on them from a respectful distance. I tried not to interfere with their school life and didn't always tell them what the teacher told me about them if it was negative, but did if it was positive. Always pass on positives to your children from anyone, AND to their teachers in the other direction. I dealt with inegatives from the teacher by "going around to the back door", so they didn't know their teacher had "come in the front door" and that helped keep them on even ground with their teachers. And I did not run to their teacher everytime...infact very rarely...they came home telling me bad stories about their teachers. I tried to quell the story at home and then I tried to become better friends with their teacher so it might create a happier turf for both my child and his teacher. It was good for all of us all the way around.
