LOL...I am ready to fall asleep by 1:00 :-) In all seriousness though, this is the one thing all the moms at work and I share, is the tiredness that we feel-especially in regards to our own children....not fair!

I am! My goodness, I am so exhausted and I feel so bad when trying to muster enough energy to play with my almost 5 month old. My husband encourages me to take a nap and quick shower before settling in with him and that seems to help.

LOL! In the same boat, here. I'm not an actual teacher, but a Special Education Aide. That means my day is full of going to the regular classes "our" kids are in (High School & Junior High), taking any notes, helping with the assignments/labs/papers, etc. There are days when my brain literally hurts, especially after helping with pre-Algebra questions, or answering the same question over & over again. I have four of my own kids, all of whom are still in school: 2 high-schoolers, 2 in elementary. So, there are many days when I just want to "crash" by the time we arrive home, yet there's the spelling practice and math homework for the two youngest, and any questions the older two might have on their homework. I always say to give Mom a hour and a half to recharge. LOL....

I'm always exhausted on returning home from school and my kids are older (18, 16 and 14) so I have that advantage. I didn't become a teacher until they were 15, 13, and 10. I am also blessed with a partner who makes me a cup of tea and lets me relax on the sofa while he makes dinner. Almost every evening, he's waking me when the food is ready. I don't know if this will ever change!

I have an energetic 5 year old and teach high school science. I can totally understand that "must sleep" feeling! The thing that has helped me most was advice I got from my therapist. She said that I will always be a better mom (and teacher) if I am taking care of myself. She insisted that 2 days a week I come home from work and spend an hour for myself before picking my daughter up from daycare. I'm not going to lie - it was hard to do at first because I felt guilty, but I soon learned that coming home and taking a 30 - 40 minute nap or catching up on the TV shows I had missed but DVR'ed made me much more patient with my daughter when I got her later. I strongly suggest this to everyone!

I'm a teacher to a wonderful group of very energetic 3 year olds. I am also a mother to 4 beautiful children. My day starts at 5:30am and ends at 11:30pm. Some days it's all I can do to stay awake during dinner! It's tough to balance it all at times but thankfully my children are old enough to understand that sometimes Mom just needs a nap!!!

I hear ya! I'm a preschool teacher and I have a three year old son. I've actually fallen asleep at my desk on accident after school one day. Drink lots of water. Rest when you can. Even if you can't do it very often.

It's your body's way of saying, "REST A BIT PLEASE!" Even if you sit, have some tea, and read the paper, your body will thank you. Also, do you take a good vitamin? That would help you a ton! Visit www.ahealthcafe.com/family for tips for a healthy home!

I almost always had to take a nap after teaching my kindergarteners. This was pre-baby. That probably won't work out too well once I go back to work in a few weeks....with a baby! Maybe he will take a short cat nap with me:)

All I want to do when I get home is sit in the recliner and not move. Unfortunately I have a 2 year old and a husband who think they have to eat every night. Plus, I miss seeing my baby girl all day. So sleep usually comes around midnight only to get up 6 hours later.

I really understand! Being a parent and a preschool teacher can be very tiring! I have an eleven year old and a four year old. Yesterday I really needed some down time when I got home and didn't get it, but God delivers and we didn't have school today because of the weather. Thank you Lord!

I know exactly what you mean. Going back to work after break was so tough. On top of it all I have to help my fifth grader with his homework and be sure my daughter turns in all of her college application forms. Not enough energy............
