How was your first Camping experience?

Our first camping trip as a family was in 2009 my son was 4 months old at the time and i was breast feeding him so i didn't have to warm any bottles thank god lol he loved it he had belly time in the fresh air and he was looking around at everything and we spent 3 days up north at our friends country house but we we camped out on there land 6 ac and they have a huge fire pit and the first time he saw fire he was the happiest baby ever he just stared into the flames and fell asleep he slept the best that night, and we have been going camping about 6 times a year maybe more

For our first family camping trip, we had our daughter stay with her Aunt for the first night while we got all set up and she came for the rest of the trip. She has just turned 7 months and she had a great time! setting up and cleaning up was the only had part. As long as your careful with the fire and any bodies of water, you'll be fine and kids love the outdoors so just go for lots of walks! :) My daughter loved the fresh air and slept great too! Our second family camping trip was this past long Canada Day weekend and we now have a son as well so our daughter is 27.5 months and our son is 3 months old. We had a gerat time again but the two kids did slow us down alot :P especially with potty runs in a dirty bathroom late at night! but in the end it was a ton of fun and I can't wait to go again next year :) lots of activities, quick and easy meals and lots & lots of long walks!! Tire the kid(s) out and you'll have some time to yourself in the evening and night :) Have fun!!

Our first actual camping trip with our daughter didn't take place till she was about the same age, 18 mon. but we had taken her out to the woods and we float a very calm river every summer and she was probably 8-10 mon. old the first time we did those things with her.

I was nervous too but it's like second nature to me since I've been camping since before I could walk also! My daughter LOVED it. And then when we finally did go on an actual camp trip (about 4 days) she didn't want to go home and was like she had been doing it for years.

It's one of the most natural things, to be out in nature like that, no matter what age. It's great fun for every one involved. Just remember, when that small, they need a little bit of home too. We mad sure to have a small chair for her (my parents found at a garage sale) and her little plastic picnic table for her to color on. We made sure to bring her tractors for playing in the dirt. And pack like four extra shirts/pants for each day. Dirty is fine. Wet, muddy or accidents with food, especially sticky stuff you want to have clean comfy clothes for them. You don't want them to be bate for the insects. Which reminds me, a mom once told me that if you stuff a dryer sheet in the back of their (your lil' one) shirt it helps ward off mosquitoes. I did this when she was much younger (8-10 mon.) and she didn't seem to mind it sticking out of the back of her neck. Now that she is older I can instruct her to keep her mouth and eyes shut while I spray her with bug replant.
