Heather, you should come up to north jersey! Beautiful state parks here in Sussex County - good comping and hiking! Just a chance for slightly different scenery without too far to travel. The Kittatinny Ridge is beautiful in Spring and Summer!

that sounds nice too. i went camping memorial day weekend & the mosquitoes were vicious, not to mention there was a 3 1/2 foot long 2 foot tall raccoon that scared me half to death. I was definitely wishing I had a camper then

we are seasonal campers, our camper is parked on a state river. Its a great getaway for our family. We get to spend quality time together talking laughing and just enjoying each others company in the outdoors

By Palisades, we have had moose, elk and deer walk straight through camp like no one is there, We've seen a few mountain goats and hear raccoons at night.

Come to think of it, even though we go into the pine barrens in NJ, we really get to see much of the wildlife. Until we go to bed & think there are weirdos creeping outside our tent, but are too scared to move. Then we wake up to find out a few deer & raccoons got into our things that somebody forgot to put away haha!

My favorite thing about camping is the wild life! we have so much where we camp at Palisades Resevour in Idaho. If anyone gets up this way I suggest going to Palisades it is absolutely gorgeous!

We love camping. We go the cabin route though, since we're not near water here in the desert. It's a lot easier to get clean after a long day of exploring and being outdoors hiking. Our son loves the mtns. and hiking. We have another one on the way due in July, he'll be the same way. We're complete ourdoors people and it's the only thing that calms all of us down and keeps us in harmony. We try to go every other month. Cannot wait to be near a lake again though, so refreshing...

Quoting Tanya:

Hello ladies!! I live in Canada and boy...I can't wait for Spring!! I do like our winter season but near the end, I'm done! LOL We love to camp and explore different places with our 3 yr old daughter. She's been asking to camp in the RV already...crazy child! Got to love it! What I love about camping is sitting around the fire at night. The sounds of crackling wood, the smell and the blaze that creates such a calming atmosphere. Smores too. LOL

I hear you there! I live in Minnesota, just a little south of you so I know what you go through with winter. I love to camp so much that my kids actually hate me because "I turn into a totally different person". I just tell them that I can't help it if I get all excited and happy about it.

I love the smell and sounds of the fire also. I love it so much that I bought an elevated fire pit for my yard and the weekends that we don't go camping, we have a fire in the yard. I also love to hear the night sounds that you just don't get to hear in the cities. There is also all the stars that you can see because there isn't so many lights blocking them out and the chance of catching a glimpse of wildlife in the early morning or late evening. I even love cooking outside and will do it when I am at home just for the "warm fuzzy". I think that what I am trying to say is that there isn't anything about camping that I don't enjoy except maybe a bad thunderstorm (since we tent this always has me more worried).

That sounds like a good idea! I know there's supposed to be some water park in the mountains in North Jersey. We want to go there this summer. Is that near where you are talking about?

Josie, have the wild flowers started? Oh, Texas in the springtime! We are now in Arizona so our spring display is much shorter but instead of the fields of bluebonnets we have golden poppies- the dessert looks like it's on fire!

I went to Texas for about a week. I loved it! It was sooo warm and pretty! I wish I would have been bale to go camping there. Maybe another time.

We have a teardrop camper that we take out every chance we get.  Luckily, one of the few redeeming qualities about Texas is it's fabulous state parks!

I love watching the pure joy of my son just being outside.  He loves our trailer, and would go camping every weekend if he could.

Give us a 3 day weekend, and we're off to go camping!  (Too bad spring break is taken by a family wedding!)
