So I'm thinking of getting the implanon in a couple weeks is it a good choice?

I have had it for almost 2 years now. I only spot every 6 months with it and only for a day. 2 days before the spotting I get kinda moody and cramp alittle but nothing like what i would if I didnt have it. I have gained about 10 lbs with it but I have also been working out more lately and have already lost the weight that I put on when I got it put in. I was on the depo shot when I got pregnant and my friend got pregnant on the mierna (sp?) so when we decided to get on BC this seemed like the best opinion. good luck

i have had it in for almost the whole 3 years it is good for, I can say one thing it works. I had 3 kids in 3 years on other birth control methods. The only down side is that I can't seem to lose my baby fat. I still look like i am pregnant. But when all is said and done i would rather look like it than be it

my doctor had told me that there will be some women that dont have any (very lucky few,i am one of them) some will have spotting, some will have periods for a long period of time. just like with any birthcontrol. I have it and i love it. also to the uk its nothing more than what is considered normal. No implanon is not 100% no birthcontrol is. it is one of the best % of not getting pregnant and 99.95% "in the U.K. represent less than .04 percent of the over 1.3 millions U.K. users of Implanon since its approval in 1999." quoted by abc.com.
Its even said to be a higher % than getting a more long term procedures. Like getting your tubes tied. My advice is to do research like I had done, and decided (because i was breastfeeding, and this is safe) on implanon. I have not regretted it at all. I did have a little bit of spotting in the beginning around 4 months into it, but havent had any problems with anything else. The depression they say that it brings on, I havent had any deference in how depressed I became. I was put on anti depressants for post pardom....(I had my son 3 months early, yes i was depressed)
Also in woman that have gained a lot of weight they say its not effective because there is only a set amount of the ingredients and they go by that. or it could have moved. which my doctor said is highly unlikely but it does happen. just like the IUD it can move.
I do agree its not for everyone, just like the pill isnt for everyone, the shot isnt for everyone, birth control is all different like all of us.

i don't wanna talk you into not getting implanon, but i have had it for almost 2 years now and i want it out!! everyone seems to have a different opinion though- implanon works differently with everyone! my dr told me after 6 months, my periods would stop if not before. well it will be 2 years in may and i bleed 3 weeks out of every month, VERY FRUSTRATING!!! i get headaches almost every day- however, these may or may not have anything to do with implanon. i've done some research online and found several women that feel the same way i do. but some absolutely love it! there is also a huge lawsuit going on in the uk right now b/c a lot of women have reported getting pregnant on it and others have had multiple complications. i didn't do enough research before i decided on implanon and now regret it :( i trusted my doctor when she said it was a great form of birth control and was one of the most effective ones out there. whatever you decide on, do your research!! hope everything works out for you!! :)

i have it too and I LOVE IT!! i have actually recommended it to a few friends who now have it too. I had a little bit of spotting about four months into it but other than that NO problems. No weight gain either. I am totalling in love with it and will continue to use it.

I wanted to get Mirena and when i went in to get it, they said it wouldn't fit right, so they suggested this instead. I had never heard of it, but the doctor said she actually likes it better and doesn't undeerstand why it isn't offered more. It is a shorter time you can have it in, but you can have another one put in right away when the first is done. IT just feels like a matchstick in your arm if you push on it. I hope it works for you!
