Hi,



I recently started crocheting newborn hats and booties for a charity I found called Stitches From the Heart (http://www.stitchesfromtheheart.org). They send knitted/crocheted clothes and blankets to hospitals for preemies/newborns all over the US. It's really fun work, and the items are quite quick to whip up, it's kind of addicting! And I love to think that somewhere a little brand new baby will wear what I made, and hopefully be a little cozier because of it.



So I was wondering if there were other charities out there that any of you were making projects for? Or maybe you make clothes/blankets and donate them to Goodwill, etc?

Here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota we have a program called "Warm Up Sioux Falls." You crochet a 9x9 square and then a group of ladies stitches them together. Then the afghans are given to the homeless.

The squares go pretty quick but I have trouble sticking to it. Any ideas to keep up the momentum?

The ships project sends homemade knitted or crochet hats and socks to men and women in the armed forces. They have several patterns avaliable if needed and the website gives you color guidelines and sizes. The current mail dates are February 1st - 7th, March 1st - 7th, April 1st - 7th. the website is http://theshipsproject.com/

I recently realized I have a lot of yarn. Most of it leftover from other projects. In order to use it up and make room for new yarn, I have started knitting 7" by 9" squares that I will donate to Warm Up America. http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/warmup.h...
