here is a very simple one, i have made a couple of this sweater. its made all in one piece ( except the sleeves).
size 24 months, chest=24 in., length=13 in.
( this is also a zip up, but, instead of adding the zipper i turned it inside out and whipstitched the front together to get a pull over.)
ch 72, row 1-Dc in the 4th chain from hook, counts as 2 dc, dc in each ch across- turn. Row 2- ch 3, counts as dc, skfirst dc, dc in each across, turn repeat last row 10 more times. Divide for armholes- next row (rs)- ch 3, counts as dc, sk first dc, dc in each of the next 15 dc, turn. leave the remaining sts unworked. work 6 more rows across. should have 16 dc. shape neck- next row(ws)- ch 3, counts as double, sk first dc, dc in each of the next 7 dc, hdc in each of the next 2 dc, sc in next dc, sl st in next dc, fasten off. leave remaining 4 sts unworked. Back- with rs facing, sk next 4 dc, sl st to next dc, ch 3, counts as dc, dc in each of the next 29 dc, turn, leave the remaining sts unworked. work 7 more rows across. should have 30 dc. fasten off. Left front- with Rs facing, sk next 4 dc, sl st to the next dc, ch 3, counts as dc, dc in each of the next 15 dc, turn, work to correspond to the right front., reversing the neck shaping.
Sleeves- make two. ch 32. row 1- dc in the 4th ch from hook, counts as 2 dc, dc in each ch across, turn, rep row 2 of body 12 times. fasten off.
finishing- sew shoulder seams. sew in the sleeves.
body edging, sl st to any corner, make 3 rounds of sc around the whole thing. making 3 sc in every corner. sleeve edging, work 3 rds of sc around the cuff edge.
whipstitch the middle together to make a pullover.

The measurements are dead simple to do and it'll work for any size. The best thing about the pattern is the fact that there are no seams to either the cardigan or the pullover. ;)

The knitting pure and simple patterns by Diane Soucy are quick and easy to do. The tunic is knitting from the top down with no seaming. I'm working on the hooded tunic now and I think the only seaming is for the hood.

Having googled, here's a few more:

This one is straightforward and easy to knit if you ignore the colorwork motif and just do it in solid:

And if you don't mind cables, this one gives you a lot of bang for your knitting buck:

http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring03/PATT... is fairly simple to knit and can be adjusted in size -- is that the sort of thing you were thinking of?
