Well I have a product that is aloe called Prosit - it comes in liquid and tablets form - you can get them from most pharmacies. Buy the non-alcoholic one and rub some on the fingers nail areas....I also use it to rub on my son's skin as he suffers from white marks on body which doctor said is depigmentation of skin cells (skin loses its color) Since I have used that, it has helped him alot...
If you can't get that product, get a piece of aloe plant and slice it to where the liquid comes out and smear it on the fingers...If you are in the SA area, let me know if you come right in your area, maybe I can ask the supplier to let me know whereabouts in the area you are he supplies to which could make your life a bit easier....Let me know...Keep well

I have had the same thing with my son...a friend of mine suggested I put some nasty tasty stuff on so I tried an aloe product which is really bitter....It not only kept him from biting but it also kept his nails looking healthy cos of the aloe content.

I have the opposite problem, my son's nails grow fast and when I try to cut them it starts out as a wrestle fest then I threaten to paint them if he won't let me clip them. LOL! Anyway, I was a nail biter as well and the one thing I remember my parents doing is painting this anti-nail biting stuff on them that was suppose to be hot. Needless to say it wasn't too effective but it's something you might look into, maybe it will work for you. Another suggestion, buy them a special "anti-nail biting" ring they pick out and when they bite, the pretty ring will go away for a couple of days so they can't show it to their friends. Ok, last idea, run the tops of the fingers and under the nails over a bar of soap (something nasty tasting), Yum! :-)
The real secret to me quiting the nail biting...braces. LOL! ;-)
