My 6 year old is done with school and he has another month of it. This is a good student. My husband and I prepared him for Kindergarten so he would have no struggles and he doesn't. However, the school year is too long and this proves my point...I think. I have talked with a few other parents and they say the same about thier child. They are like, my son/daughter is tired and mentally done with school. It isn't that they hate it (yet), they are just done.



What about you kiddo? How are they doing in school and how do you feel about the school year? Is your child in Private or Public?

My daughter struggled in the beginning of kindergarten simply because of the longer days but she loves it and I am so relieved! She is in a charter school..so basically private school education in a public school setting. I do keep a good routine during the week and don't allow too much extracurricular activities during the week. I kind of dread the long summer off! The adjustment to that and back to a routine weeks later will be brutal!

My son is 6 years old and just started the 1st grade in a public school. He is also tired and mentally done with school afterwards. I believe that either the school day is too long, which I cannot change, or I should start looking for a year-round school I can put both my children in.

My son is 5 and he is just starting school this year so I don't have an answer for you but I hope that he doesn't have to go through this.

my 5 year old is in private school and is getting ready to go into prefirst grade this year bc of her being the youngest kiddo in class and we didn't want her to struggle with first grade work. she is really excited about going back to school and has been in some sort of structured program since she was 9 weeks old and went into her current private school when she was 4. she has never had a problem with the school year since she has been in school and i haven't seen her classmates complaining about being tired of school when april rolled around last year. i think their teachers were more tired and ready for summer than the kids were! LOL i don't have a problem with the school year running from august to may with the regular breaks at the scheduled times during the year.

My son is in Kindergarten and the only time he has hated going to school. I finally found out that there was a bully on the school bus that was making it not fun for him. I got that taken care of and now he loves it. He is upset that the school year is ending. Have you inquired if there is someone that might not be nice to him?

Hi casey my name is kelly. My son is in prek and he is so over it. at first he liked to go. now he cries on the way to school everyday. He is only in school from 8-1 but he does not want to be there. He will be five july 13 and already does not want to go to school. i feel your pain.
