My baby isn't born yet but I'm trying to get as much info as possible. How often do the occupational therapist come out to visit the babies? Is it once a week or once a month? How long does the therapy last?

My daugher Veronika(who was 2 in May) has an occupational therapist, and physio therapist who we see monthly(sessions last for 1 hour). We see a speech therapist every 2 months. When Veronika was born she was in hospital for 6 weeks and had a physio and speechy come see her every day. We live in tasmania, australia.

My 9 m/o. Jacob has a family support worker 2x week and an OT 2x week. We will probably have to add more services later but then again the public school systems here in VA have a 2 year old program for children with special needs. At the school they do all of the therapy which can save me time and money. I am seriously considering this option, although I dont want him to leave me that soon though!

Hi Martha, it really depends on your baby and where you live. My little one has physical therapy 2X per month and a nutritionist once a month. We've begun discussing having an occupational therapist, too. In Rhode Island, your health insurance pays for it, and if you have no health insurance, the state is required to cover it. Our visits are an hour or so, and I think they've been a great help in keeping Heidi on track as much as possible. I'll answer anything else you need, and good luck with your precious soon to be addition!

Hi Martha! I am a Developmental Therapist through Early Intervention. After you have your baby, the pediatrician will probably get you set up with Early Intervention. It is a wonderful program! I am not sure what therapists your baby will have, but she will probably end up having all of them. Here are the different therapists: developmental, occupational, physical and speech. How many times a week will depend on your childs need. My daughter had all of them and most of them twice a week. You pay based on your income. We only paid $20 a month for all of these services. If you have any questions you can message me.
