I have 10 children and #11 on the way. My kids ages are 16,14,11,10,7,5,3,2(twins),9months. I don't homeschool. We have great schools in our area and very pleased with the schools.  I don't send them to school to get a break  from them.  I feel like I don't see them enough but they are also busy in sports so we are on the road alot. I have 5 in school and 5 at home.

Great to "meet" you. I too love having a large family and we get looks and sometimes even more crude comments. There is a certain fellowship you find with others who are like minded huh? Hi! My name is Julie. My husband Adam and I have been married almost 5 years. We have 3(soon to be 4) children ages 4 (boy), 2 and a half (boy), 14 months(girl), and due in June (boy). We are new to home schooling but we live in a great area as far as resources go but it is still hard to explain to others-we are definitely not the norm. People look at us like we are crazy for having 4 kids, but we definitely want a big family and cannot wait to have more. Most of the home school families we have met have been super nice and welcoming. I look forward to learning lots from you all.

I am Candace (39 in May), I have been married to my husband (42) for 15 years in May but together for 23 years. :D We have four children all bio 9 years - 17 months. We have been homeschooling since the beginning so this is our fourth year. :D Good to meet everyone. We also live in a rural community, not too far in the country but also not right in our small town. :D We love homeschooling and also wouldn't have it any other way. :D

Just an add on here;

I was homeschooled myself and I knew I would homeschool my children. I received an excellent education and felt loved and respected as a legitimate individual. I wanted my kids to have the wholesome upbringing that I had.

I love the whole life style of country living, homeschooling, wholesome activities. I was born to live this way. I don’t buy into the craziness of an overly busy go-go-go pace. I like to keep my mind and hands in a productive mode, just not in the frenzy that seems to be the norm today. I have enjoyed schooling my kids from the beginning. My oldest just turned 18 and will graduate this year. His favorite class is physiology.

When our children reach 7th grade, we allow them to go to our very small public school if they want to. (for a year or two)We know the three teachers and they are all Christians and respect us as the authority over our kids. I would not recommend this for everyone. I believe this is a rear circumstance. It is a unique opportunity for the kids to have the experience. We hoped it would dissipate any false notions about “missing out” on something. So far it has worked, my two oldest came back home with a new found appreciation for what we do. They now know that we aren’t keeping them from some great fun or keeping them locked away from some big secret. Once that illusion was shattered they settled right in with the plan their Dad and I have to fully equip them to go out and live in this world without becoming apart of it.

We live in Wisconsin, a wonderful state for homeschooling. We adopted two of our children from Wisconsin and one from Florida. I think we may be done adding to our family, but I’ve said that before. If we had never ending funds I think we would just keep adding.

My favorite things are gardening, baking bread, fishing, riding horse, hiking, and reading.  

I have a question: Do your children who are grown have kids and do you know if they plan to homeschool or are they homeschooling their children?

Hi Heidi,

I'm Martha, I've been married to my husband, Tom, for almost 26 years. We have 12 children, all biological - ages 28 down to 4 year old twin girls - 7 boys, 5 girls. We've been homeschooling for 17 years and wouldn't do it any other way!

Hello and thank you for your intro and post. My hats off to you for taking the needing teen. A hard thing to do especially with our enonomy! But, so admirable. Are you willing to tell us where you adopted from? Don't know about you, but I LOVE living out in the country. Homeschooling is a challenge but worth it in the end...( today that was questionable lol ) Glad to see you here and post anytime. I too look forward to getting to know everyone.
