Oh, just remembered, does either side of the family have a history of lactose intolerance? It did a number on me when I was a baby, as well as my brother. You may need to discuss this with your doctor and switch to a "gentle" formula, or even soy.

Sugar water helps with constipation, just a couple ml. Also does the formula you are using have extra Iron in it? That can cause troubles, I had to start my son on half formula half breastfeeding cause he wasnt gaining weight fast enough and it did a number on his "schedual". I switched from Infamil with iron to Nestle Good Start with comfort proteins and within a couple days he was loose again. But definetly check with your doc in case of other factors.

My doc said to put a Tbsp of DARK karo syrup in my little boy's bottle. But don't overdo it, if the problem doesn't go away, talk to your doctor.

I just had that problem with my son who is 4 months. My pediatrician said to give him a little bit of pear juice, dont dilute it. Also, it could be the formula she is on. Similac gave my son very bad constipation. I had to try a bunch of different kinds, and for him the one that seems to work the best with no problems is actually the walmart brand Parents choice! Also try moving her legs in a bicycle motion, this is supposed to elp relieve some of the gas and get things movin in there. I also give him the mylicon drops with every bottle! Hope she starts to feel better! And congrats!

I would talk with her doctor before doing anything especially the coloxyl drops. I had similar issues with my son when he was around that age and my doctor discouraged the use of the drops. He did however, recommend adding a little bit of prune juice to his diet. Gerber has an apple prune that I used on my son and I only gave him about 2 oz at a time no more than twice a day and it helped. He would still grunt and groin and turn a bit red but it was no longer hard nuggets. Some babies strain even though it is not necessary as their body adjust to normal functions. Hope this helped and good luck
