My son has allergies. First thing, be sure to give him a shower every night, not in the morning, this washes an allergens off his body and hair. Clean your air filters monthly, even if the package says its good for 3-6. Vaccumm every couple of days and get an ionic breeze, its did wonders for my son. If you need some over the counter meds try Zyrtec, my daughter went on that, half a teaspoon in the moring and she was good to go, stopped the runny nose. Or talk to your pediatrician, I did this and took my son to an allergist, that is where i got the advice to shower and night and change air filters. My son had a scratch test to identify what he was allergic to. He is now on cingular to help with his congestion.

What is she allergic too? You need to reduce or eliminate exposure to the allergen. If it is a severe reaction you need to get her to the doctor and he will be able to prescribe either a topical treatment or an antihistamine (do not buy anything like this over the counter as the wrong product or dose can make a child VERY sick).

my 5 yr old went through that same thing for almost 3 yrs before I could convince the dr's there was something seriously wrong. I finally convinced them to send him too an allergist. He is SEVERELY allergic to dust mites. Best thing too do in a situatin like that is too go to the dr. They know what they are doing and Momma knows best!!! don't back down if you feel like there's a problem. They may have you try Claritin but you have to make sure you have the right dosage. if you want your child seen by an allergy dr (especialy if you have a family history) don't back down until you get what you want. You are your childs best advocate!! Best of Luck!

recommend blood test (RAST) than skin test. (allergy tests are not always completely accurate when they are young so they may need to be re-tested later).

get a specialist involved, especially if there are respiratory concerns.

we are working thru allergies and asthma with my daughter (2yrs old). we have been fighting the cycle of allergies, congestion, difficulty breathing.

Holly, good luck with the allergy test. We just had it done and I loved it. Are you getting the scratch test? If so be prepared for him to have his shirt off for about 20mins and you cant touch where they do the test. Kinda hard with a squirmer.
