Breaking of the BOTTLE

[deleted account] ( 6 moms have responded )

My son just turned 2 years old and he still wants the bottle. Should I let him get rid of the bottle on his own or should I take it away from him and if so how do I do that?

Remember, he cant control nothing. the only reason he is still on the bottle is because YOU allow it.

You need to take it away and give him a cup. NO weening, just cold turkey. He will cry for a week or so, but that is just the normal process. You gotta be srtong and be able to take the crying and tantrums. Eventually he'll get the idea. When his little butt is thirsty he will take what he can get....which is the cup.

Quoting Jaime:

My son will be two in August and he still likes a bottle in the morning, at nap time, and when he goes to bed. I still give it to him because it seems to comfort him. I don't see anything wrong with it. Now if he still wants it by age three i'm going to take it away. HaHa!

For sure no bottle after age 3.

You could try bringing in a "special Drink Bottle" but i dont think it's a problem for him too still have a bottle, i'm of the opinion of if there happy and health, why change things on them... But in the end it's what you feel comfortable with.

it depends on what time of day he wants his bottle if it is allday try to swoop some of them for a cup but i would still let him have it in a morning and at bed time as it is probable a comfort to him hope this helps luv
