fussy baby

[deleted account] ( 4 moms have responded )

My baby boy is now 2 months old. For awhile the spitting up and now tummy aches have been building until recently screaming fits have started. last night he was screaming and fussy...so i gave him a bottle and put him to bed. I also gave him some tummy drops.

He was never a collic baby, very happy and sweet all day/night long.

He eats Enfamil lipil 4ozs every 3 hrs...i burb him half way through and he always burbs then and after he finishes. He usually finishes every bottle...sometimes leaves a 1/2oz.

When i burb him he squirms around and cries. I've tried different ways of burping and they seem to work and he burps but he's always frantic when burping no matter what I do.

He goes to the doctor tomorrow and I am going to ask what she thinks...but i'd also like some input with moms who understand whats going on.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I switch formulas? am i feeding him too much? Or is he just being difficult?

Ask them if it could be acid reflux. My son went through something similar and they ran a test on him (made him drink a fluid and took xray) to see if it was the way his esophogus connected. Supposidly it is very common and can cause acid reflux, irritability, etc when digesting or eating food. Good luck at the appt.

you are the best mom for you baby! i remember feeling the same way about you do about my new mommieness. you are doing the best you can. before you try changing the formula try some techniques like turning the baby on his side in your had so that his body is onyour arm and his face is away from your then gently giggle him. and shush in his ear kinda loud. if he is crying the shushing sound should be louder than his cry. dont worry you wont hurt his ears. you might want to find a swing that he can sit semi upright in. this will help him digest and may calm him. each childhas his/her own way of comforting you jsut have to explore your options until it works... good luck

my son suffers really bad with trapped wind hes 3 months old and has an umbilical hernia so the doctor told me to leave him a couple of mins after hes finished his bottle then slowly sit him up to bring up his wind which always brings it up without any discomfert but i did use sma but changed him to cow and gate which seems to agree with him more. but your not doing anything wrong and dont let anyone make you think you are some babies are just fussy .

I don't think ur doing anything wrong!! My son was the same way at 3 months.. He went from a very happy baby boy to just crying all the time with a sore tummy.. I tried changing his formula & it work for a bit but then he went right back to where he was before.. I took him to the doctors and they told me he was collic!! I'm not saying he is,but bring it up with ur doctor.. All the best..
